ORANGE COUNTY HOMEOWNERS GET MORE TIME TO APPEAL PROPERTY TAX BILLS

Orange County homeowners now have more time to appeal their property tax bills, under a plan approved last month by the Orange County Board of Supervisors. Beginning July 2, all Orange County property owners will have 152 days to dispute their property tax bills.

“Under the old rules, some taxpayers were notified of their right to appeal after the deadline had passed,” explained Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do, who joined a unanimous board in extending the deadline for filing a property tax appeal. “Orange County needs to guarantee that our property tax bills are determined in the spirit of Proposition 13. That means giving every taxpayer ample time to dispute their bill.” Continue reading→

Orange County 2015-16 Annual Roll Press Release

Orange County Assessor Claude Parrish has delivered the 2015-16 Local Assessment Roll of Values today, June 29, 2015, on schedule in accordance with the Revenue and Taxation Code that includes all locally assessable property in Orange County.

The total net taxable value on the Roll is over $498.9 billion. The Roll of Values is up 5.89% or $27.7 billion more than last year (2014-15). Each of Orange County’s 34 cities and the unincorporated areas had a year-to-year increase in net taxable value. Value changes are reflecting the Orange County real estate markets that show continued appreciation in property values this year and the restoration of values previously reduced under Proposition (Prop.) 8 decline in market value provisions. ORANGE COUNTY ASSESSOR WEBSTER GUILLORY CHARGED WITH FILING FALSE NOMINATION PAPERS IN PRIMARY ELECTION

SANTA ANA – The Orange County District Attorney has charged Orange County Assessor Webster Guillory with filing false nomination papers in a re-election bid for County Assessor in the March 2014 Orange County primary election. Webster James Guillory, 70, Newport Beach, is charged with three felony counts of filing false nomination papers and faces a possible sentence ranging from probation up to four years and four months in jail if convicted. He is expected to be released on his own recognizance and arraigned Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. at the Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. The Department is to be determined.

At the time of the incident, Guillory was the four-term elected County Assessor for the Orange County Office of the Assessor. Continue reading→
