WESTMINSTER – The Orange County District Attorney (OCDA) is seeking the public’s help Identifying potential additional victims of a man charged with exposing his penis to three minor girls and an 18-year-old female who were walking to school. John Rodriguez, 20, Santa Ana, is charged with one felony count of attempted sexual battery, four misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure, and three misdemeanor counts of child annoyance. Orange County Housing Authority Receives $927,747 to Assist Homeless Veterans Through the Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing Program

The Orange County Housing Authority (OCHA) has been awarded $927,747 to expand its ongoing Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing Program (VASH). This funding, from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), is a coordinated effort involving HUD, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and local housing authorities to provide permanent housing for homeless veterans in conjunction with supportive services. Central County Senior and Caregiver Expo, proudly hosted by Supervisor Janet Nguyen and the Office on Aging, is a free event that will be held on Saturday, August 20, from 7:30 am to 11:30 am, at the Crystal Cathedral, located at 13280 Chapman Ave., in Garden Grove, CA 92840 (transportation provided upon request to individuals age 60 and over).

This event will provide a unique and exciting opportunity for Orange County’s older adults and caregivers to learn more about health services and vital community programs for older adults. This year, the Expo will feature registration for CalFresh, the State’s food stamps program.

Free O.C. Cello Choir Concert at the Yost Theater on Saturday, 8/20

Please join the OC Cello Choir in our first public performance scheduled for Saturday, August 20th at 11am. Cellists from around Orange County will gather together to celebrate the beautiful resonance of the cello through a performance including classical, pop, rock, and folk melodies.

Works will include music ranging from Bach to Henry Mancini to Enya to Coheed and Cambria. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to performing in the newly renovated Yost Theater. As such, this concert will be a rock-star experience not to be missed! Continue reading→

In September of 2010 an African-American woman and a white man were walking together in their apartment complex when they heard a white male on an upstairs balcony yell, “Interracial relationships are wrong!” and call the woman a “nigger.” The perpetrator then walked downstairs and confronted the couple, punched the man in the face knocking him down and then kicked his back causing concussions. Santa Ana Political Chismes: Will Brandman be the next O.C. Clerk-Recorder?

Jordan Brandman went to work for Tom Daly, the O.C. Clerk-Recorder, in January of this year, as his “Director of External Affairs.” Yes, that sort of government job usually comes with a six figure salary. Brandman was hired despite an Orange County hiring freeze, according to the Friends for Fullerton’s Future blog.

Daly is now thought to be running for the 69th Assembly District. Does that mean Brandman, who is on the Anaheim Union High School District’s Board of Education, will be running to replace Daly, should Daly end up getting sent to Sacramento by the voters?

Never mind the fact that Brandman is not a Clerk-Recorder and he really has no experience at this sort of work, there are plenty of other reasons to oppose him. Continue reading→

MAN INDICTED FOR BEATING-MURDER OF 18-MONTH-OLD TODDLER AND SIMILAR 2009 CHILD ABUSE OF 3-MONTH-OLD RELATIVE

SANTA ANA – A man was indicted today by the Orange County Grand Jury for the beating-murder of his girlfriend’s sister’s 18-month-old daughter and abusing another child in a similar way in 2009. Juan Carlos Aguilar, 25, Santa Ana, was indicted on one felony count of murder, one felony count of assault on child with force likely to produce great bodily injury resulting in death, and two felony counts of child abuse. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison. Continue reading→

SANTA ANA – A man was sentenced today for sexually assaulting a woman in his Santa Ana home under the pretense of
performing acupressure therapy. Thuan Van Nguyen, 56, Santa Ana, was found guilty by a jury July 13, 2011, of one
misdemeanor count of sexual battery by fraud and two misdemeanor counts of sexual battery. He was sentenced to 180

MARRIED COUPLE CHARGED WITH STEALING OVER $400,000 IN SOCIAL SECURITY AND UNION PENSION DEATH BENEFITS BY FAKING HUSBAND’S DEATH

SANTA ANA – A married couple will be arraigned tomorrow for stealing between $400,000 and $500,000 in death benefits over a 7-year period by faking the husband’s death. Santiago Carrasco, 51, and Rosa Carrasco, 53, both of Santa Ana, are each charged with two felony counts of grand theft with sentencing enhancements for aggravated white collar crime over $100,000 and property loss over $200,000.
