Heroic police officer to speak at the next Santa Ana Republican Womens Federated meeting

Local Hero Sgt. Mike Gonzalez, 24-year veteran of the SAPD and a Navy combat veteran with extensive training in treating trauma victims, was a hero in time of need. He was at the recent mass shooting at a concert in Las Vegas and tended to 11 injured concertgoers and helped another 15 or so into vehicles for transport to the hospital.

Now Gonzalez will be sharing his story of the mass shooting in Las Vegas at the next Santa Ana Republican Womens Federated meeting, on Monday, Oct. 23 @ 7 p.m., at Marie Callendar’s Restaurant, located at 1821 N. Grand Avenue, in Santa Ana. Continue reading→

The Lincoln Club of Orange County supports allowing the Dreamers to stay in the U.S.

Community: Santa Ana City Council Approves Resolution Urging Congress to pass the Dream Act of 2017

At last night’s council meeting, the Santa Ana City Council approved a resolution urging the United States Congress to immediately pass the Dream Act of 2017 and to protect immigrant youth and families from deportation. Earlier this month, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program would be rescinded. Upon rescission, more than 800,000 individuals would lose their DACA status and accompanying protections, including their eligibility to remain in the U.S. and their eligibility to work.

DACA is an immigration policy established by the Obama administration in June 2012 that permits individuals who entered the country illegally as minors to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and eligibility for a work permit. Continue reading→

The SAUSD School Board will consider a union-only Project Labor Agreement on Wednesday

The SAUSD School Board is going to vote on a controversial union-only Project Labor Agreement this Wednesday, at their regularly scheduled board meeting. This comes a week after the Santa Ana City Council unwisely passed their own PLA on large public works projects.

PLAs are the most controversial issue in the construction industry today. They have in fact been banned in 25 states and 11 entities in California. Continue reading→

Trump picked a 19-year old realtor to decide who gets drafted in Orange County

Mark Vladimir Prizmic, a 19-year-old Realtor from Anaheim, California, was recently appointed by president Trump to serve as the new board member of the Orange County Selective Service System (SSS) Board.

According to the official site of the United States Government: Selective Service System, the mission statement of the SSS is “to furnish manpower to the Defense Department during a national emergency, to manage alternative service for men classified as conscientious objectors, and to register, with only a few exceptions, all male U.S. citizens and male immigrants residing in the United States who are ages 18 through 25…”. Former SAUSD Trustee Nadia Davis Lockyer arrested for battering her 76-year old husband

The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office Thursday arrested Nadia Davis Lockyer, 46, of Long Beach, a former SAUSD School Board Member and a former Alameda County supervisor, who is the wife of Bill Lockyer, a 76-year old former California attorney general, at a Twain Harte vacation home on suspicion of battery on a spouse, according to the Union Democrat.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call from inside a home on Fireside Drive near Twain Harte Lake at about 10:55 a.m. The caller said an intoxicated woman was yelling and throwing things. That woman turned out to be Nadia. Continue reading→

UPDATE: OCSD Investigating Misidentification by OC Coroner Office

SANTA ANA, Calif. (June 26, 2017) – The decedent who was previously misidentified as Frank M. Kerrigan, 57, has been positively identified by fingerprints. The Coroner Division is attempting to locate and notify family therefore we will not be releasing the name of the decedent at this time. The SAUSD never built the pools they promised at Godinez and Century High Schools

The saddest picture of the year – Godinez H.S. kids practicing water polo on their school lawn

At the last meeting, SAUSD Board President John Palacio publicly admitted that the SAUSD never built pools at Century High School and at Godinez High School, despite promises to do so. Unfortunately, the SAUSD is not good at properly managing Bond Measure money to build new facilities so some schools go without while other schools get new sports amenities. For example, Segerstrom High School is currently inexplicably replacing their existing score board in the gym with a brand new $70K video score board!

Century High School’s Swim and Water Polo Teams were traveling to Santa Ana High School to use their pool, but eventually both of these teams disbanded. The Coach and Athletes at Godinez High School have to use the pool at Valley High School but they do not have access to the pool until after 5 pm. The students sometimes do not get home from practice until after 9 pm which is not good for them! Continue reading→
