A strong winter storm is in the forecast to impact Southern California late Thursday night through Saturday afternoon, with the heaviest rainfall and damaging winds occurring Thursday afternoon through Friday night. This storm has significant potential to create flooding in the City of Santa Ana and residents are encouraged to use sandbags to protect their property.
Ten (10) sandbags per resident can be picked up at the self-service sandbag station at 215 S. Center Street from 6am to 8pm Monday thru Thursday, 24 hours a day on Friday and Saturday, and all day Sunday until 8pm. OC Public Works Flood Control Channel Maintenance and Security Project
Santa Ana, CA (February 8, 2017) — Beginning today, the County of Orange Public Works Department is beginning a Flood Control Channel Maintenance and Security Project adjacent to the County maintenance road along the east side of the Santa Ana River in Orange. The project area will stretch from Orangewood Ave. to just south of the Garden Grove Freeway (22), at levee slopes under the east and west sides of the Santa Ana Freeway (5) and under the east side of the Garden Grove Freeway (22).
The project will focus on three priorities to ensure the County is prepared for flood-fighting activities: storage of rocks and sand, upgraded fencing, and levee repairs. Continue reading→

It amazes me that vehicles have to drive through multiple inches water on MAJOR ARTERIAL streets in our city, and the city doesn’t seem to do anything about it. Where is the Police Dept telling drivers to avoid flooded streets?

The City of Santa Ana has made sandbags available to City residents and businesses during winter storms. Ten (10) sandbags are available per Santa Ana residence location and business location.

This includes the trash collection holiday schedule, which indicates the days where there will be a one-day collection delay.

The purpose of the event is to celebrate the re-opening of the Stadium after extensive renovations of the structure’s concrete surfacing was completed. An car got stuck on the median at N. Spurgeon St. and E. 3rd St. this afternoon in Downtown Santa Ana according to community activist Igmar Rodas. He said that he has heard of two other similar incidents including one that involved a motorcycle that hit the median and spun out of control, ultimately crashing into Diego’s.
This time the driver of the unfortunate vehicle just got stuck on top of the median. The owner told Rodas that he was blinded by the sun as he was turning left from East 3rd St. onto North Spurgeon St. Continue reading→
