Next week is your last chance for Christmas tree recycling pickup in Santa Ana

The holiday season has come to an end, so let’s start the new decade on the right foot by recycling. Next week is the last week for Christmas tree recycling pickup in Santa Ana.

Waste Management is collecting Christmas trees during regularly scheduled trash pickup through Jan. 17. Trees taller than 4 feet must be cut in half. Please remove all decorations including tinsel, lights, ornaments and tree stands. Place the tree at the curb. Flocked trees will be collected but cannot be recycled.

On Saturday, August 22nd the County of Orange will host a collection event from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 pm. at Discovery Cube OC located at 2500 N. Main Street in Santa Ana.

Collection services offered at the event are:

OC Waste & Recycling, in partnership with Discovery Cube, Goodwill of Orange County, and Angels Baseball present a collection event at Angel Stadium on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Items being collected for reuse or proper disposal include:

  • E-waste (working and non-working electronics)
  • Gently-used clothing and household goods
  • Paper documents for shredding

Goodwill of OC and the County of Orange celebrate Earth Month by holding a Spring Cleaning Eco Challenge Donation Event at the Honda Center on Saturday, April 12.

SANTA ANA, CALIF.—Goodwill of Orange County, in partnership with the County of Orange, the Anaheim Ducks, and Discovery Science Center, is hosting a Spring Cleaning Eco Challenge donation event on Saturday, April 12 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Honda Center parking lot.

The first 100 cars that donate reusable household items or bring paper for certified and secure on-site shredding services can receive their choice of a pair (TWO) of Anaheim Ducks hockey tickets, a Ducks autographed Eco Challenge hockey puck, or a FOUR-pack of tickets to Discovery Science Center.* Continue reading→

E-waste recycling event fundraiser set for Feb. 2, at Heroes Elementary

On February 2, 2013, Heroes Elementary will be having an Electronic Waste Recycling Event as a fundraiser for the school. Those who wish to help can bring by old computers, printers, monitors, cell phones, televisions, small appliances, or other electronics. Anything that plugs into a wall or runs on batteries will be accepted, and the more is collected, the more the school makes.

Those who wish to drop off material only need to load it into their car and drive through the school parking lot. All Green Recycling employees will remove the material from the car for them and get them quickly on their way. Continue reading→

Free electronics recycling event at the Mainplace Mall this weekend

Do you have old electronics cluttering up your attic or garage?  The OC Chamber of Commerce and the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce have teamed up with All Green to help you get rid of them responsibly–absolutely free of charge!

Bring all of your old electronics to the event, All Green will accept almost anything that plugs into a wall or takes a battery.

The event is designed to give residents and businesses the opportunity to properly dispose of electronic wast.  All Green Electronics Recycling recycles everything it accepts and nothing ever goes into a landfill. More importantly, materials are NEVER sent to be processed in developing nations–everything is done right here in North America!

Members of the community and businesses are encouraged to take the opportunity to clean out their garage or store room and donate their unused electronics to a good cause.

First Presbyterian Church of Orange “E-Waste Recyling Event”

Global E-Recyclers and First Presbyterian Church of Orange are hosting an e-waste recycling event on September 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 146 Grand St., in Orange, in the parking lot across the street from The Center.

They we will be accepting the following items to be recycled: CRT Monitors, TV’s, Cell Phones, Fax Machines, Printers, VCR’s, Copiers, Toners, Monitors & Terminals, Hard Drives, Main Frames, Keyboards/Mice, Laptops and power supplies and many other electronics.

They will not however accept any batteries, household or kitchen appliances.

Public-Private Partnerships Work Well, Especially in a Difficult Economy

It happens every year. Once again, the Golden State faces an extraordinary budget deficit.

But as the state of California grapples with unprecedented economic challenges, we often forget to appreciate the things that are going right.

Day after day, year after year, Keep California Beautiful (KCB) continues to do its part by supporting a wide range of efforts to reduce, reuse, recycle and clean up our communities. We work with cities like Santa Ana, which is part of our Network of Proud Communities, to initiate litter prevention strategies, provide resources and help to mobilize volunteers and workshops. The types of services that we work to provide are often the first services cut. But we can’t do it alone.

The heart of KCB’s mission is to work together to empower and encourage individuals, state and local governments, communities, and corporate responsibility through strategic initiatives and volunteer action to preserve and protect California’s beautiful natural resources for generations to come.
