Statement on Proposed Santa Ana School Board Bond Measure

ORANGE COUNTY, CA – Hon. Fred Whitaker, Chairman of the Republican Party of Orange County, releases the following statement in response to the proposed $479 million bond for the Santa Ana Unified School District:

“Recently, the Santa Ana School Board has proposed putting a bond on the ballot in the November election. In order to do so, a resolution to place the bond on the ballot will go before the Santa Ana School Board this month. This proposed bond would be for a staggering $479 million and would require only a simple majority to pass. This unnecessary bond represents nothing more than a tax increase on the citizens of Santa Ana. In the meantime, the school board is spending thousands of dollars of taxpayer money to get this ballot measure passed. Continue reading→

Heroic police officer to speak at the next Santa Ana Republican Womens Federated meeting

Local Hero Sgt. Mike Gonzalez, 24-year veteran of the SAPD and a Navy combat veteran with extensive training in treating trauma victims, was a hero in time of need. He was at the recent mass shooting at a concert in Las Vegas and tended to 11 injured concertgoers and helped another 15 or so into vehicles for transport to the hospital.

Now Gonzalez will be sharing his story of the mass shooting in Las Vegas at the next Santa Ana Republican Womens Federated meeting, on Monday, Oct. 23 @ 7 p.m., at Marie Callendar’s Restaurant, located at 1821 N. Grand Avenue, in Santa Ana. Continue reading→

The Lincoln Club of Orange County supports allowing the Dreamers to stay in the U.S.

Trump picked a 19-year old realtor to decide who gets drafted in Orange County

Mark Vladimir Prizmic, a 19-year-old Realtor from Anaheim, California, was recently appointed by president Trump to serve as the new board member of the Orange County Selective Service System (SSS) Board.

According to the official site of the United States Government: Selective Service System, the mission statement of the SSS is “to furnish manpower to the Defense Department during a national emergency, to manage alternative service for men classified as conscientious objectors, and to register, with only a few exceptions, all male U.S. citizens and male immigrants residing in the United States who are ages 18 through 25…”. Upon learning that your establishment was being rented to the Make Cali Great organization for their “Summer of Conservatism” event. I, along with other community members of Santa Ana became extremely alarmed and upset to see that your venue (the ESports Arena in DTSA) would be given hate speech a platform to speak in the middle of Downtown Santa Ana/LA CUATRO.

The event highlighted keynote speaker Kyle Chapman a.k.a. “Based Stickman” who became famous when he got arrested in Berkeley for assault with a deadly weapon after hitting a protestor in the head. He is currently out on bail. Continue reading→

The Trumpers disrupted an immigration Town Hall meeting at the Delhi Center yesterday

U.S. Rep. Lou Correa tried to conduct an Immigration Workshop and Town Hall meeting yesterday at Santa Ana’s Delhi Center but a fracas broke out between Trump supporters and immigration supporters.

The anti-immigrant Trumper event set for July 9 in DTSA has been cancelled

Apparently the ESports Arena was not affiliated with the event, instead the event was booked using an online form and they were not aware that their venue was being used by anti-Latino Trumpers until we posted about it. It is hard to believe this but apparently a bunch of very right-wing conservatives are hosting a “Make Cali Great” event called the “Summer of Conservatism” at the eSports Arena, in Downtown Santa Ana on July 9, 2017, right across from Mariscos Hector, to talk about subjects including Sanctuary State Policies, Over Taxation, Voter Fraud, 2nd Amendment Rights, Illegal Immigration, and Conservative Activism.

Do these people realize that the Santa Ana City Council recently declared Santa Ana to be a Sanctuary City? And that the Santa Ana City Council cost our city several million dollars a year by canceling a contract with ICE to hold their detainees at our City Jail? Continue reading→

The Santa Ana Educator’s Association – the union that represents local public school teachers at the SAUSD, spent months attacking SAUSD Trustee Ceci Iglesias and her fellow conservative Republican, Angie Cano, while promoting their own slate of SAUSD School Board candidates – Rigo Rodriguez, Mark McLoughlin and Alfonso Alvarez. But in the end Iglesias emerged as the top vote-getter in the 2016 General Election while Cano barely lost by only 183 votes.

As for the teacher’s slate, only Rodriguez and Alvarez emerged victorious (assuming that Cano doesn’t edge out the latter when the final vote tally is announced this week).

You are probably as sick of this year’s general election as I am. The last few weeks have given us all plenty to dislike about the top two presidential nominees – Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. And here in Santa Ana several candidates aligned with the Democratic Party have tried to use Trump against Republicans running for non-partisan offices, in one of the most underhanded schemes I have ever seen in my over 20 years of covering Orange County politics.

These candidates, including Rancho Santiago Community College District Trustee Claudia Alvarez and the slate of SAUSD School Board candidates sponsored by the Santa Ana Educators’ Association (the teachers’ union) – including Rigo Rodriguez, Mark McLoughlin and Alfonso Alvarez, have forgotten that Santa Ana is not quite as Democratic as they think it is. Over half of the voters in the 69th Assembly District are Latino – but our Assembly representative is Tom Daly, who as the former Mayor of Anaheim had a distinctly anti-Latino record. Daly opposed a Hispanic supermarket that did eventually open in Anaheim without his support. He also persecuted the poor people who live in Anaheim’s motels.

Make no mistake about it, Daly is in the Assembly to serve the 1% – and to vote for whatever Disney and other special interests in Anaheim ask him to vote for. Continue reading→
