Is the city of Santa Ana telling us the truth about Hepatitis A?
A recent article on the homeless encampments in the Civic Center quotes Robert Cortez from the City Manager’s office:
“Cortez said city leaders are concerned about disease as a statewide outbreak of hepatitis that started in a San Diego homeless encampment and spread to Los Angeles and beyond. So far 672 have been reported statewide, but none in Orange County.” Continue reading
Jim Schnabl
Deputy Chief Jim Schnabl has been selected as the new Acting Police Chief of the SAPD, according to a message sent to SAPD employees by outgoing Chief Carlos Rojas, who resigned when he was hired to serve as the new Chief of the BART Police in San Francisco.
Schnabl has been running the SAPD’s Administrative Bureau, which oversees Human Resources, Training, Information Services, and the Central Distribution Center (CDC). The Bureau is also responsible for the Communications Center which is often a point of first contact with the community in providing emergency and non-emergency services. Continue reading
Mayor Miguel Pulido and Gerardo Mouet
The Santa Ana City Council has voted to send Gerardo Mouet back to the Parks Department. He is no longer the acting Santa Ana City Manager.
Mouet has been replaced by Deputy City Manager Robert Cortez, who will be the acting city manager while the City Council looks for a permanent replacement for fired former City Manager David Cavazos. Continue reading
City of Santa Ana, Downtown Orange County
The City of Santa Ana is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Robert Cortez as Deputy City Manager. Robert has been serving as the Special Assistant to the City Manager for over two years, during which time he has completed several significant projects including implementation of the City’s Five-Year Strategic Plan, Medical Marijuana Regulatory Program, and Information Technology Strategic Plan. Robert recently participated in a nation-wide recruitment in which he was unanimously selected as the top candidate in the selection process.
Robert began his work with the City in 1999 as an Accounting Assistant in the Parks and Recreation Agency. He promoted through the ranks of finance and budget-related job classifications eventually to the position of Assistant Director of Finance and Management Services and in 2014 he joined the City Manager’s Office. During his 17 years with the City, Robert has worked for three different City departments and has been involved in a diverse range of project areas. Robert holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Southern California. Raised in Santa Ana, he attended Santa Ana Valley High School and Santa Ana College as well. Continue reading
