OC Streetcar Rolls On as OCTA Seeks Federal Grant Agreement

Federal Transit Administration grant would fund nearly half of project’s cost if approved

ORANGE – Plans to build Orange County’s first modern streetcar took a major step forward today as the Orange County Transportation Authority board of directors approved seeking a federal full funding grant agreement that would cover nearly half of the overall cost to build the OC Streetcar.

OCTA, the lead agency planning to build the OC Streetcar in Santa Ana and Garden Grove, will seek a full funding grant agreement from the Federal Transit Administration for $148.9 million. Continue reading→

Youth can ride June 1 through Aug. 31 for $20 per month, 50 percent off the regular fare

ORANGE – The Orange County Transportation Authority is encouraging youth to explore their community this summer by getting out and visiting Orange County’s many attractions using the discounted OCTA Youth Summer Pass.

On 5/18/2017 Robbery Detectives release information to the media about two separate robberies that occurred in the City of Santa Ana on 5/17/2017. The first robbery occurred at the Motel 6 located at 1623 E. 1st Street, where the suspects jumped lobby desk brandishing a knife at the hotel clerk demanding the money in the cash register. The second robbery occurred approximately five minutes later at the 76 Gas Station located at 1502 E. Edinger. The second robbery was captured on video and released to the media. Continue reading→

DTSA is reeling in the wake of the assault on a woman on Sunday morning

The attack on a woman who exited the Proof Bar in DTSA early on Sunday morning has blown up – it has been covered on CNN and has appeared in newspapers as far away as London. One of our readers posted that the victim of the attack was not from Santa Ana.

The family and friends of Edwin Fuentes, the U.S. Army Veteran whose life was cut short on May 16, 2017, in Tustin when the police opened fire on him, are trying to raise money to pay for his funeral. Advisory: Detective Request Assistance In Identifying Suspect In Assault, Road Rage And Vandalism Case

Suspect Description: Male Hispanic 45-55, 5’5”, Thin Build, short grey combed back hair

On March 28, 2017 at 6:25 p.m., SAPD police officers responded to the Chevron gas station on the 2100 of E. McFadden. The clerk called 911, regarding a man who had been loitering and harassing customers gassing up. She told the operator, she confronted the man, and asked him to leave. He followed her back into the store, where they got into a verbal confrontation. He then began throwing items from the store at her. He left as she called 911, but returned shortly and began causing major damage to the store and attempted to assault the clerk. The man then fled in his vehicle. Why did the SAPD wait until today to let us know that a woman was attacked in DTSA on Sunday?

An unidentified man assaulted an apparently inebriated 26-year old woman at the stairwell of the Copper Door in Downtown Santa Ana, early on Sunday morning, May 21, 2017, according to the O.C. Register.

The SAPD released surveillance footage today of the attack, in an attempt to get leads on the suspect. Why they waited this long to release the footage is a very good question. Were they trying to protect the Proof Bar from what is sure to be a damaging hit to their image? Continue reading→

Advisory: SAPD Missing Person Detectives Asking For Assistance in Locating Missing 16 Year Old Female

Missing Person: Kimberly Molina (16)

UPDATE: The missing 16 year old female has been located and subsequently released to the custody of LA County Social Workers as of the morning of May 24, 2017.

On 5/23/17, a social worker was transporting Molina to LA County. Molina jumped out of the car at 500 N. Main Street in Santa Ana and fled northbound.

Molina has priors for prostitution and has been a victim of human trafficking. She may be in the company of her pimp known only as “FEDERICO.” Continue reading→

Advisory: Homicide Detectives Investigating Shooting Death 200 block South Cedar Street

On Sunday, May 21, 2017 at approximately 6:00 a.m. the Tustin Police Department responded to a report of a man down on the front of a residence in the 600 block of W. Main Street in Tustin. Orange County Fire Authority Paramedics pronounced the male deceased.

Tustin PD initiated a homicide investigation. After lengthy investigation, it was determined the victim was shot during a gang-related shooting which occurred in the area of 200 South Cedar Street, Santa Ana. Continue reading→

DNA collected by the SAPD convicts a suspect who murdered an L.A. woman in 2004

Do you remember the strange incident that occurred in Santa Ana, back on Jan. 29, 2014, when a woman’s body was found on the northbound 5 Freeway, just before 2:45 a.m., at the juncture with the westbound 22 Freeway? It turns out the driver of the truck she jumped out of was a murderer, according to the O. C. Register.

The victim, Martha Rodezno, 51, was from L.A. She had hitched a ride with a fellow from Hawthorne named Jaqwun Laerin Turner, 36, and for some reason she jumped out of his truck – and he did not stop. Turner was arrested by the SAPD and as a result his DNA was collected – which led to Turner’s downfall. Continue reading→

Suspects escaped from a police pursuit after burglarizing a home in unincorporated Santa Ana

Apparently the bad guys have figured out how to escape during police pursuits. A group of burglars, all dressed in black, struck at a home at the  9700 block of Rangeview Drive, in wealthy unincorporated Santa Ana, at 8:45 p.m., on Saturday night, May 20, then sped off in a white pick-up truck that was pursued by an O.C. Sheriff patrol vehicle, according to the O.C. Register.

The police pursuit topped 100 mph at times, winding through Southern California freeways including the 91, the 105 and the 110. The suspect vehicle wove in and out of traffic very nearly hitting other vehicles at times.  Continue reading→
