On 6/20/16, detectives arrested Jose De Jesus Gomez Ochoa (30 years old). Gomez resides in Tustin; however, he is a documented Santa Ana gang member. At the time of his arrest, Gomez was a wanted parolee at large. Gomez was booked into the Santa Ana Jail for murder, gang enhancements, and parole violations. Continue reading→
Three Santa Ana police officers pleaded not guilty on Monday to charges of petty theft in connection with a raid at Sky High Holistic, an unlicensed medical marijuana dispensary that was located on 17th Street, in Santa Ana. that was recorded on video, according to the O.C. Register.
The charged police officers inluce Brandon Matthew Sontag, Nicole Lynn Quijas and Jorge Arroyo. They were each charged with one misdemeanor count of petty theft. Sontag was also charged with one misdemeanor count of vandalism under $400, according to the OCDA. Continue reading→

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A parolee sex offender on a GPS monitoring device was sentenced Friday, June 17, 2016, to eight years in state prison for the pandering and attempted pimping of an 18-year-old woman. Eddie Bridges III, 38, Compton, was found guilty by a jury on July 29, 2015, of one felony count of attempted pimping and one felony count of pandering by procuring. The defendant’s sentencing enhancements for prior prison convictions in Los Angeles County in 2007 for the pimping and pandering of a minor, pimping and pandering of an adult, and a prior prison conviction in 2011 for attempted pandering, and serving separate prison terms but not remaining free for five years, were also found to be true. On 6/19/16, at 19:19 hours, officers were dispatched to 1700 S. Evergreen regarding a shooting with a male victim down. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, Eliu Armando Gramajo (52 years old), suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Medics arrived and transported Gramajo to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. Continue reading→
As if our city didn’t have enough problems now we have to fear our teenage girls. Two of them, ages 14 and 15, stole a car from a 55-year-old woman in Santa Ana on Friday night, according to the O.C. Register.

Suspect In Homicide And Kidnap Investigation Arrested
ARRESTED: Teodoro Bernal Nunez (38)
On 6/18/16, at 01:33 hours, SAPD officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1200 block of S. Oak Street, regarding a stabbing. A witness stated a male and female had been stabbed and the female was subsequently kidnapped by the stabbing suspect.
Patrol officers arrived on scene and found a 27 year old male stabbing victim lying on the front lawn of the residence. The victim was unconscious and unresponsive. Medics arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased. Continue reading→

Advisory: Santa Ana Police Department Illegal Fireworks Enforcement Operation
SAPD performed an illegal fireworks enforcement operation and confiscated approximately 300 pounds of illegal fireworks and issued two(2) $1,000 fine administrative citations.
Remember possession or use of illegal fireworks is a crime and can result to one year in jail and a $1,000 minimum fine. Continue reading→
The Do Lunch Deli is now open at 901 West Civic Center Dr., Suite 150, in Santa Ana. They opened about two weeks ago. They are open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The owner, Brian Doyle, has had a great admiration and fascination with delis since he was a kid. When he was young he and his grandmother went to all the delicatessens in the Los Angeles area. As a Member Agency of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California our local Santa Ana schools are asked to participate in their Southern California wide poster contest. Out of over 700 entries from all over Southern California the City of Santa Ana had two winners, a very great accomplishment.
Congratulations to 6th graders Faith Avila and Michael Miramontes, winners of this year’s “Water Is Life” Student Art Contest! Faith and Michael were honored by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and their art work will be displayed on MWD’s 2016 calendar. GOODWILL OF ORANGE COUNTY AWARDED $25,000 GRANT FROM BANK OF AMERICA TO SERVE O.C. VETERANS
Funds will further Goodwill’s Tierney Center for Veteran Services, resources for vets and their families, including job placement and housing assistance
SANTA ANA, Calif. — June 16, 2016 – Goodwill of Orange County announced today it has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to invest in its Thomas T. & Elizabeth C. Tierney Center for Veteran Services, Orange County’s new all-in-one resource for veterans living in Orange County and their families.
This grant by Bank of America will allow Goodwill to expand its comprehensive approach to serving local warriors and their families and conduct outreach to reach more of the local veteran population. The funds also help fulfill a $1.6 million one-to-one grant match with America’s Warrior Partnership (AWP), a national organization that seeks to unite community-based organizations to collaborate for an improved network of resources for veterans. The remaining dollars to fulfill the AWP grant match are funded by Goodwill through its successful social enterprise model. Continue reading→

The Santa Ana Police Department will be conducting a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint on Friday, June 17th, 2016 It will begin at 9:00PM and is scheduled to conclude at 3:00AM. It will be conducted in the area of 2400 W. Fifth Street, in the City of Santa Ana.
The primary purpose of a DUI Checkpoint is to deter impaired driving, not to increase arrests. All too often, members of our community are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by impaired drivers. This DUI/Drivers License checkpoint is an effort to reduce those tragedies, as well as ensuring drivers have a valid driver’s license. The DMV reports that unlicensed drivers are 4.9 times more likely to cause a fatal crash than a licensed driver. Continue reading→

Valley is Four Time Champions of National Culinary Arts Competition
(Santa Ana, CA) – The Culinary Arts Team of High School Inc. at Valley High School did it again! They are the national champions of the Cooking Up Change Culinary Arts competition for the fourth time in five years. Congratulations to Rosa Aguilar, Daisy Lagunas, and Mariah Macias for proudly representing Santa Ana while facing tough competition from nine other cities across the United States to bring home a 1st place finish.
The road to becoming champions began with a regional competition hosted locally by Kid Healthy and Northgate Gonzalez Market as part of a national program, founded by Healthy Schools Campaign, based in Chicago. As a requirement of the competition, students must work within the constraints of school food service including limited ingredients, tight budgets, and limited steps to produce the full meal. The team did just that. After creating a delicious meal that included Moroccan stuffed zucchini, Moroccan salad, and spiced pear cups, the trio captured the attention of the judges and were awarded 1st place out of 11 high schools in Orange County who competed in the 5th annual Cooking Up Change® competition. (Santa Ana, CA) – Santa Ana Unified School District celebrates a record-breaking number of graduates receiving their Seal of Biliteracy when they receive their high school diplomas during graduation ceremonies to be held Tuesday, June 13 – Thursday, June 16, 2016. This year, 1, 013 students will be recognized for being fluent in at least one or more languages and English, an increase of 124 students from last year.
