MAN TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR STABBING-MURDER OF CONCERT ATTENDEE DURING LIVE PERFORMANCE
SANTA ANA, Calif. – A man is expected to be arraigned today for stabbing and murdering a concert attendee in Santa Ana during a live performance. Juan Angel Rivera, 21, Santa Ana, is charged with one felony count of murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a knife. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in state prison. The People will request he be held on $1 million bail at his arraignment expected this afternoon in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. The time is to be determined.
On the evening of March 3, 2016, Rivera is accused of attending a performance at Underground DTSA in Santa Ana where a band was performing. At approximately 10:30 p.m. as a band was performing, the defendant is accused of getting into a confrontation with 23-year-old Nathan Alfaro. During the confrontation, Rivera is accused of pulling out a knife and stabbing Alfaro multiple times in the torso. Rivera is accused of leaving the venue with several other people. The victim was transported to University of California, Irvine Medical Center where he died as a result of the multiple stab wounds. Continue reading→

And hillbillies here in the U.S. still like to dig into squirrel stew. But for the most part, here in the U.S., Americans do not like the thought of mice in the kitchen, despite Pixar’s popular Ratatouille movie.
With that in mind, a recent inspection by the O.C. Health Care Agency, at the MainPlace Mall, which was recently sold, turned up rodent infestations at several of the food court eateries, according to the O.C. Register.

(March 7, 2016) – When students didn’t have proper shoes to compete in 5k and 10k races, but they would still be just as eager to participate in whatever they could afford, the Kevin Armstrong MD Memorial Sports Foundation knew that they had to find a way to provide running shoes to all the students who participated in their program – RunStrong – a program that instills a love of running in intermediate-age students while promoting living a healthy lifestyle.

Tran Nguyen, of Lake Forest, a 90-year-old man died on Sunday after he was hit by a car while crossing an intersection in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.
The accident happened at the intersection of Harbor Blvd. and Westminster Ave. Police received a call on Sunday at 9:24 a.m. and when they arrived at the scene they found the victim lying on the ground. Continue reading→
A 31-year-old man was shot in the leg while trying to break up a fight outside a Santa Ana bar early Friday, according to the O.C. Register.
The victim was leaving the El Coral Bar at 1:44 a.m., at the 1900 block of South Standard Ave., when his friends got into an argument with others who were outside the bar, according to the SAPD. Continue reading→

ADDITIONAL CHARGES FILED FOR THREE DEFENDANTS CHARGED WITH ESCAPING FROM ORANGE COUNTY JAIL
SANTA ANA, Calif. – Additional charges were filed today for three defendants previously charged with escaping from custody at the Orange County Men’s Central Jail (OCJ). Bac Tien Duong, 43, Hossein Nayeri, 37, Newport Beach, and Jonathan Tieu, 20, Fountain Valley, are each charged with one felony count of the unlawful taking of a vehicle and one felony count of kidnapping to commit robbery. The defendants are scheduled to be arraigned today, March 4, 2016, at 10:45 a.m. in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana.
On Jan. 25, 2016, the defendants were each charged with one felony count of escape from pending felony charges. Duong faces also faces sentencing enhancements for prior prison convictions for second degree burglary in 1995 in San Diego County, reckless evading of a peace officer in 2008, and possession for sale of a controlled substance in 2011. FULLERTON, Calif. – A man was convicted today of sexually assaulting a friend’s 15-year-old daughter for a decade. Isidro Medrano Garcia, 42, Bell Gardens, was found guilty by a jury today of three felony counts of lewd acts on a minor. Garcia faces a maximum sentence of fouryears and four months in state prison at his sentencing on April 15, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. in Department N-11, North Justice Center, Fullerton.

The male victim, Nathan Joe Alfara (23) was inside the venue listening to punk music, when an altercation ensued and the suspect, Juan Angel Rivera (21) stabbed the victim in the upper torso. It has happened again. A young man, Nathan Joe Alfaro, of Westminster, was murdered in Downtown Santa Ana, this time at a concert venue called Underground DTSA, on Thursday night, according to the O.C. Register.
A 23-year-old man was fatally stabbed when a fight broke out at about 10:30 p.m., inside Underground DTSA, which is located at 220 East Third St., in Santa Ana’s East End Promenade.
The fight broke out as the second of five punk rock bands scheduled to perform Thursday night was playing. “It was just one psycho dude who started a mosh pit,” musician Laena Geronimo said, according to KTLA. Continue reading→
It is hard to believe that a 35-year-old man would be inclined to aim a laser pointer at a police helicopter, but FBI agents arrested a man that age, Mario DeLeon Lopez, today and he was expected to be charged at a U.S. District Court in Santa Ana, with doing exactly that, according to the O.C. Register.
Lopez allegedly aimed his laser pointer at a police helicopter being operated by tactical flight deputies of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, on Nov. 14, 2015. The pilot of the helicopter reported being struck several times with a green laser that was bright enough to illuminate the cockpit.
The source of the laser was tracked to a suspect in the backyard of a Santa Ana residence by both Sheriff’s Deputies and members of the SAPD. Those officers arrested Lopez. He posted bail and was released while the Federal investigation continued. Continue reading→
