The Santa Ana City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved an enforcement plan to shut down illegal pot shops in the city now that Santa Ana residents voted Nov. 4 to legalize and tax medical marijuana collectives, according to the OC Register.
Under the plan, city officials will begin shutting down illegal stores after Feb. 5, which is when city officials are scheduled to have sorted out which shops will be allowed to continue operating, according to the Voice of OC. Continue reading

SANTA ANA – On Sunday, November 23, 2014, Senator Lou Correa will host his 14th Annual Holiday Canned Food and Toy Drive at Prentice Park located in the Santa Ana Zoo. The City of Santa Ana Parks, Recreation & Community Services Agency is co-sponsoring the “Showmobile” that will be used for the live entertainment.
During the 14th Annual Holiday Canned Food and Toy Drive attendees will enjoy free health screenings including flu shots, lunch provided by the Orange County Employees Association, and opportunity drawings including: a television and tickets to Disneyland, Aquarium of the Pacific, and Knott’s Berry Farm. Families are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy or canned food that will be donated to Toys for Tots and the Orange County Food Bank.

Drug and Alcohol Abuse Treatment Works in Orange County
(Santa Ana) – A new report from the Orange County Health Care Agency found that adult clients of the County’s drug and alcohol treatment programs experienced significant reduction in drug use, improved health, and social functioning; increased employment rates; and a reduction in arrest, incarceration and reliance on medical services. The report examines the treatment outcomes for over 11,000 clients of Behavioral Health – Substance Use Disorder services between 2011 and 2013.
“We know that treatment works and can reduce drug/alcohol misuse and dependence,” said Mary Hale, County Health Behavioral Health Officer. “In addition to reduced drug and alcohol use, our clients also reported improvements in other areas of their lives such as decreased arrests and increased employment – becoming more productive members of our community.” Continue reading

Santa Ana Pop Warner is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to serving the youth of our community. Academics, athletics & good sportsmanship are our primary objectives. Our organization continuously grows and improves each year not just as great athletes but well rounded individuals. This organization is making a positive impact in the community by making a positive change in our youth through Football & Cheer.
This year we are fortunate to have a Pee Wee Cheer Team composed of 17 young ladies who are all academically performing at averages of 3.5 GPA while training over 5 hours a week. They have beat adversity and obstacles to get to where they are now; a strong squad that has earned the opportunity to represent Monarch Cheer Team and Santa Ana at a National Competition in Orlando Florida from December 5th – December 11th . The team has won 1st Place at the Local Level in October, and recently won 2nd Place at Regional’s Competition this past weekend in Long Beach. A couple years ago what used to be the Northwest Santa Ana Little League became Santa Ana Pony Baseball – and they took over the Little League field at Riverview Park. I thought at the time that losing the Northwest Little League would be the end of it but now apparently what used to be the Southwest Santa Ana Little League has also gone over to Pony Baseball. But this time a civil war has broken out – over the baseball fields at Santa Ana’s Memorial Park.

Public Safety Agencies Showcase Communications Equipment & Mobile Command Vehicles
WHAT: The California Statewide Interoperability Executive Committee will be hosting an exercise in Orange County, with Los Angeles, Riverside/San Bernardino, and San Diego counties also participating. The purpose of this exercise, called the Multi Agency Regional Radio Interoperability Training Exercise, is to test the interoperable capability of radio communications equipment inside mobile command post vehicles.
