Onofre to host a free seminar about Immigration Reform on May 15

Former Santa Ana City Council candidate Karina Onofre is hosting a meeting at her office on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 7 pm.  The meeting will include a free seminar on lmmigration Reform, the Dream Act, U.S. Residency, and U.S. Citizenship naturalization.  Onofre’s office is located at 726 S. Main St, Santa Ana.

The guest speaker will be a veteran immigration lawyer, Louis Michael Piscopo.  Piscopo practices Immigration and Nationality Law. He is certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization as a Certified Specialist in Immigration & Nationality Law. Mr. Piscopo is also former Chairman of the Orange County Bar Association’s Immigration Section, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (Southern California Chapter) Liaison Officer to the USCIS-Santa Ana Office. Grand Central Art Center is proud to announce the arrival of Artist in Residence, Adriana Salazar from Bogota, Columbia.  Adriana will be in residence for the next two months as she develops two major site-specific installation – one in our main gallery and one that will take place at the Orange County Museum of Art. Both projects are part of the upcoming 2013 California-Pacific Triennial, being curated by Dan Cameron of OCMA. LAW ENFORCEMENT NET 29 JUVENILES IN 5TH ANNUAL OC GRIP CURFEW SWEEP

ORANGE COUNTY – Over 180 law enforcement officers from 19 agencies netted 29 juveniles in violation of city curfew laws last night in the 5th annual curfew sweeps by the Orange County Gang Reduction and Intervention Partnership (OC GRIP). OC GRIP aims to prevent juveniles from being victims of or participants in gang crimes by identifying at-risk youth, increasing school attendance, and decreasing gang activity. Continue reading→

We reported back on March 21, that Steve Rocco, the perennial candidate who appears to be a few sandwiches short of a picnic, had filed paperwork with the Santa Ana City Clerk to begin a petition to recall Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido.

Now the Orange County Register has reported that Rocco’s paperwork has been approved, so he can start collecting signatures in order to try to put his Pulido recall on the ballot. Continue reading→

HIGHER EDUCATION FOR DEPORTED U.S. CITIZENS CLEARS FIRST HURDLE

Sacramento, CA – Today, The Senate Committee on Education approved Senate Bill (SB) 141, authored by State Senator Lou Correa (D-Santa Ana). This measure restores access to California colleges, universities and scholarships for young U.S. citizens, who are forced to live abroad as a result of their parents’ deportation.

“This was an important victory for young aspiring college students. SB 141 would allow U.S. born children forced out of the country, at no fault of their own, to pursue the American Dream and get a quality education,” said Correa. Continue reading→
