SANTA ANA, Calif. – A registered sex offender was convicted today for the special circumstances murder of a 29-year-old woman in the course of sexually assaulting her in a Stanton motel room. Charles Patrick Drew, 65, transient, was found guilty by a jury of one felony count of special circumstances murder in the commission of rape, sodomy, oral copulation, and sexual penetration by foreign object, one felony count each of rape of an unconscious person, sodomy of unconscious victim, oral copulation of unconscious person, sexual penetration by foreign object of unconscious victim, and aggravated assault. Drew faces a minimum sentence of life in state prison without the possibility of parole. The court will also hear a bifurcated trial on the defendant’s two prior strike convictions for forcible rape and assault with a deadly weapon in Orange County in 1995 at his sentencing on Oct. 23, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. in Department C-28, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. WHAT: Affirmed the death penalty sentence of Lam Thanh Nguyen who was found guilty by a jury on July 6, 1998, of two felony counts of murder with special circumstances for committing multiple murders, two felony counts of attempted murder, three felony counts of street terrorism, with sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury, using a firearm in the commission of murder and attempted murder, and vicariously armed with a firearm in committing an attempted murder.
In 1994 and 1995, Nguyen was a member of a Vietnamese criminal street gang and was involved in several shootings and violent crimes against a rival Vietnamese criminal street gang. On July 21, 1994, Nguyen was involved in a drive-by shooting where a rival gang member was shot, paralyzing him from the neck down. Continue reading

Arrest of Sexual Assault Suspect
Tustin Police Department
On July 21, 2015, a 24-year-old female came into the Tustin Police Department to report she had been sexually abused in the City of Tustin between the ages of 12 and 15. Tustin Police Detectives investigated the incident and were able to quickly corroborate the victim’s statements. The suspect was arrested the same day at his residence in the City of Stanton.
The suspect, Carmen Simonetta, 54-years old, was booked at the Orange County Jail on charges of lewd acts on a child, sodomy, digital penetration and continual sexual abuse of a minor. Continue reading

Suspects Arrested Following Assault on Waitress with Vehicle
ANAHEIM, Calif. – (March 23, 2015) – On Monday, March 23, 2015, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Rowshaid Pellum, 24, Cerritos; Markeisha Williams, 18, Long Beach; Shyteice Miles, 19, Long Beach and Santeea Ralph, 23, Long Beach; in connection with an assault that occurred at the Mexico Lindo Restaurant in the 10900 block of Magnolia Avenue in unincorporated Anaheim.
On Sunday, March 22, 2015, Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Mexico Lindo Restaurant after a victim reported being struck in the parking lot by a black Volkswagen sedan. The victim, a waitress at the restaurant, reported that she walked into the parking lot to confront four patrons who left without paying their bill. As she attempted to contact the patrons in their vehicle, they drove away striking the victim and knocking her to the ground. Continue reading

Investigators Seeking Public’s Assistance Identifying Armed Robbery Suspect
STANTON, Calif. – (October 15, 2014) – On Tuesday, September 14, 2014 at approximately 11:35 p.m., an armed robbery occurred at the La Pico Market located at 10480 Beach Boulevard in the city of Stanton. Suspect Arrested for Bank Robbery Threatens Explosives
STANTON, Calif. – (September 15, 2014) – On Monday, September 15, 2014, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a bank robbery at the Bank of the West branch located at 11051 Beach Boulevard, Stanton. The robbery suspect, Danny Ray Worrell, 62, Stanton, threatened the bank teller with a note indicating he was armed with a gun and explosives. The loss from the bank was cash and the suspect was seen leaving in a maroon Chevrolet corvette.
Following a broadcast of the suspect and vehicle description, sheriff’s deputies observed a maroon Chevrolet corvette in the area of Katella Avenue and Western Avenue. Deputies conducted a felony traffic stop and took Worrell into custody. As deputies took Worrell into custody, he made statements threatening explosives inside the vehicle. Continue reading

Suspect Arrested for Pimping and Pandering by Operating Brothels
SANTA ANA, Calif. – (September 3, 2014) – On Tuesday, September 2, 2014, Orange County Sheriff’s investigators served multi-location search warrants following a pimping and pandering investigation involving two locations. Nga “Sandra” Tran, 45, Lake Forest, was arrested following an investigation that identified her as the owner/operator of brothels in the cities of Stanton and Lake Forest.
Tran is suspected of exploiting two female adults, 19 and 20 years of age, who worked for her as prostitutes. Tran is believed to have operated/owned two brothels where the victims would receive money in exchange for sex acts. As operator/owner of the brothel, Tran collected a portion of the proceeds from sex services performed and provided condoms, lubricant and information on ways to avoid detection by law enforcement. FULLERTON – A 57-year-old man was sentenced today to three years in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration for engaging in illegal sexual conduct with a 14-year-old boy he met on Craigslist. Mark Aime Brosseau, Stanton, was found guilty by a jury Oct. 30, 2013, of one felony count each of lewd acts upon a child, contacting a child with the intent to commit lewd acts, and meeting a child with the intent to engage in lewd conduct.
On the night of Sept. 25, 2010, Brosseau parked his Ford pick-up truck in a parking structure at Bella Terra Mall in Huntington Beach and engaged in sexual conduct with 14-year-old John Doe in the vehicle. The defendant had previously met the victim on Craigslist in late June 2010. Continue reading

Deputies offer $5,000 reward for information leading to hit-and-run driver
Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs join effort to capture killer preying on Orange County’s homeless
The Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture and conviction of the person responsible for running over and critically injuring a 24-year-old autistic man as he crossed a Stanton street last month.
The hit-and-run was caught on a security camera on a bus sitting at the intersection of Chapman Avenue and Beach Boulevard around 12 p.m. on April 23.
Jeff Bell, 24, was on his way to work and was changing buses when he was hit, according to Bell’s father, Michael. Continue reading

WESTMINSTER – A man is scheduled to be arraigned today for stabbing and murdering a victim in a parking lot. Daniel Perez Munoz, 21, Garden Grove, is charged with one felony count of murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in state prison.
