SANTA ANA, Calif. – John Wayne Airport (JWA) anticipates a busier-than-normal travel period from Thursday, August 31 through Tuesday, September 5 during the Labor Day holiday weekend. More than 169,000 passengers traveled through JWA during the same period in 2016 with the busiest travel days being the Thursday and Friday before and the Tuesday following Labor Day.

The State Department alerts U.S. citizens to possible risks of travel due to increased terrorist threats. Current information suggests that ISIL (aka Da’esh), al-Qa’ida, Boko Haram, and other terrorist groups continue to plan terrorist attacks in multiple regions. These attacks may employ a wide variety of tactics, using conventional and non-conventional weapons and targeting both official and private interests. This Travel Alert expires on February 24, 2016.
Authorities believe the likelihood of terror attacks will continue as members of ISIL/Da’esh return from Syria and Iraq. Additionally, there is a continuing threat from unaffiliated persons planning attacks inspired by major terrorist organizations but conducted on an individual basis. Extremists have targeted large sporting events, theatres, open markets, and aviation services. In the past year, there have been multiple attacks in France, Nigeria, Denmark, Turkey, and Mali. SOUTHWEST ANNOUNCES NEW NONSTOP SERVICE FROM JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT
SANTA ANA, Calif. – More nonstop flights are taking off from John Wayne Airport (JWA). Travelers will be able to fly on Southwest Airlines to Seattle (SEA) and Chicago (MDW) beginning June 28, and to Portland (PDX) beginning August 9, 2015. Southwest also announced its plans to increase the number of daily, nonstop departures between John Wayne Airport and Dallas-Love Field (DAL) and Denver (DEN) effective August 2015. As previously announced, the airline plans to inaugurate daily service to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (PVR) on June 7, 2015, subject to governmental approvals and to Austin (AUS) on June 28, 2015. JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT PROVIDES LABOR DAY WEEKEND TRAVEL TIPS
SANTA ANA, Calif. – John Wayne Airport (JWA) anticipates a busier-than-normal travel period from Thursday, August 28 through Tuesday, September 2 during the Labor Day holiday weekend. More than 145,000 passengers traveled through JWA during the same period in 2013 with the busiest travel days being the Friday before and Labor Day.
Visitors to JWA during this holiday period can check the Airport homepage, www.ocair.com, for real-time flight status and the most up-to-date construction activities around the Riley Terminal. The hotel we know today as the Wyndham Irvine – Orange County Airport opened on August 1, 1986 and was initially operated as a Holiday Inn. It was purchased by the Wyndham Hotel Group, the world’s largest and most diverse hotel company with approximately 7,490 hotels worldwide, in August of 2013.
The Wyndham Hotel Group invested ten million dollars in a renovation of their Irvine hotel and the rooms are now fully renovated. New furniture is going to be installed in the lobby this week along with new carpeting.
My wife and I decided to take a weekend “staycation” at the Irvine Wyndham Hotel this weekend. We don’t get to be by ourselves much but our adult daughter was happy to look after our ten-year-old son, and so we headed for Irvine. Continue reading
