Tustin murder suspect extradited from El Salvador

On January 5, 2003 Tustin Police Officers responded to a call of shots fired on Alliance Ave. Once on scene the officers discovered a victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local area hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The victim was identified as 32-year-old Mario Santamaria.

Tustin Police Detectives began investigating the case and identified Juan Palacios as the suspect responsible for the shooting of Mr. Santamaria. Detectives discovered suspect Palacios, with the help of family members, fled the United States to El Salvador. Continue reading→

A Tustin man was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape

Norman Ibarra, a 28-year-old man from Tustin, is under arrest on suspicion of attempted rape, sexual assault and kidnapping after he allegedly attacked a woman walking along Mitchell Avenue in Tustin, May 12, according to the O.C. Register.

Ibarra was identified through surveillance and a canvas of the area and the police were also able to connect the suspect to the crime through DNA evidence found at the scene, according to the Tustin Police. Continue reading→

A Santa Ana man was arrested for violating a domestic violence restraining order and resisting arrest

Two Tustin Police officers suffered minor injuries on Wednesday while scuffling with Christopher Perleberg, 30, of Santa Ana, who is suspected of violating a domestic violence restraining order, according to the O.C. Register.

The police officers showed up at the Key Inn and Suites in the 1600 block of El Camino Real in Tustin at about 1:50 in the morning and they discovered that Perleberg was violating a domestic violence restraining order. Continue reading→

A man in N. Tustin was arrested early this morning after threatening a neighbor and barricading himself in his home

Bradley Seibert, 54, barricaded himself inside his home in unincorporated North Tustin on Mother’s Day for 8 1/2 hours before giving himself up early Monday morning and getting arrested for allegedly threatening a neighbor, according to the O.C. Register.

OC Sheriff’s Deputies showed up at Seibert’s home at about 5 p.m. on Sunday evening, at the 1400 block of Treasure Lane. Seibert proceeded to barricade himself in the house until he finally gave up to SWAT Deputies at about 1:30 a.m., after they told him they had a warrant for his address. Continue reading→

A man tried to rape a woman in Tustin early on Saturday morning near Frontier Park

Early on Saturday morning Tustin Police responded to a call of a sexual assault on Mitchell Ave east of Red Hill Ave., near Frontier Park, according to the Tustin Police.

A suspect described as a Hispanic male of medium height, approximately 25 to 35 years old with black hair, walked up behind a woman as she was walking eastbound on the south side of the 1500 block of Mitchell Avenue at about 6 a.m. Continue reading→

An armed robber was caught in Tustin after being pursued by the SAPD today

An unidentified armed suspect robbed the 76 station at 1502 E. Edinger Ave., in Santa Ana, this afternoon and then he led the SAPD on a pursuit that ended half an hour later in Tustin, according to the O.C. Register.

The robber was armed with an assault rifle. He allegedly pointed that weapon at perhaps as many as five people in several locations in Santa Ana today, according to the SAPD. Continue reading→

OCSD Investigators Seeking Additional Victims of Child Annoyance Suspect

Santa Ana, Calif. (April 12, 2017)- On Wednesday, April 11, OCSD North Investigations and Special Victims Unit investigators arrested Mike Patrick Thomas, 50, of Tustin, on child annoyance charges related to inappropriate communication and contact with a female juvenile.

Thomas is believed to have engaged in inappropriate contact, text messaging and conversations with the victim. During the investigation, it was discovered that a few years ago, Thomas was accused of inappropriate contact with another minor, who has since graduated from high school. Continue reading→

A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed this morning in Tustin

This morning, at about 7:11 a.m., the Tustin Police Department received a call regarding a traffic collision at Newport Ave. and the 5 Freeway. The caller indicated that a dark blue BMW had struck a pedestrian.

The responding police officers located an adult male subject on the sidewalk under the 5 Freeway overpass. He was found to be deceased. The police officers then located a dark blue BMW that was stopped along the curb at Newport and the southbound 5 Freeway exit. The driver of that vehicle spoke with the police officers and he was subsequently transported to a local area hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. Continue reading→

A Century High School student was killed in a car accident in Tustin on Friday

Pedro Fuentes, a 17-year-old Century High School student, was killed on Friday in a car accident that occurred in Tustin.

The collision happened at the 16000 block of Legacy. The OCFA firefighters who responded to the scene used the jaws of life to extricate the victims. Continue reading→

TUSD Accepting Student Transfer Requests for 2018-19 School Year

The Tustin Unified School District will accept transfer requests between Monday, January 22, at 8 a.m. and Friday, February 9, at 3 p.m. from elementary, middle and high school students for the 2018-19 school year.

Transfer requests can be made online from the TUSD website or on paper at TUSD’s Student Services Office. All applications submitted during the transfer period will be processed according to a random and unbiased process based on space availability. Advisory: SAPD Detectives Arrest Suspect In Attempted Rape Case, Believe There May Be Additional Unreported Victims

Jorge Cruz De Armas (27) Tustin, suspected of kidnapping and attempting to sexually assault a 28-year-old woman, was arrested in Costa Mesa last night. Santa Ana Police detectives arrested 27-year-old Jorge Cruz De Armas at his workplace after evidence at the crime scene led police to his identity.

On Monday at about 4:30 p.m., De Armas contacted the victim and offered her a ride. The victim accepted the offer and willingly entered his vehicle. Moments later, De Armas asked the victim if she wanted to have sex with him and she refused. De Armas drove the victim to an alley in the 1600 block of East Palm Street in Santa Ana where he attacked the victim. Continue reading→
