Week Two of the 2012 OC Fair Offers Extreme Pogo, Dodgeball, Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine and Girl Scouts Anniversary Celebration

Costa Mesa, Calif. (July 24, 2012) – The 2012 OC Fair will continue offering a summer variety of fun, food and family as it goes into its second week of events. The Food Network’s Robert Irvine will offer a dynamic culinary demonstration for free in The Hangar on July 26 at 1 p.m., while amateur foodies get hot and spicy at the Special Culinary Arts Competition featuring Chili, Wings and Salsa on Saturday, July 28 (Register by Wednesday, July 25). Plus, the Girl Scouts invite Fairgoers to celebrate the organization’s 100th anniversary on July 27 with a full day of activities and entertainment. OC Human Relations’ BRIDGES Day Camp Develops Young Leaders and Safer Schools

(Santa Ana)—Recent statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) demonstrate how widespread bullying has become in our nation’s schools. Nationwide more than one in five high school students reported being bullied at school and more than 16 percent reported that they had been bullied electronically.

With bullying and student harassment at an all-time high in our middle and high schools, student leaders from Orange County schools are preparing to learn how to take a more significant leadership role in creating safer, more inclusive and respectful learning environments where all students feel welcome and can succeed. SANTA ANA TEENSPACE TO HOST CONGRESSWOMAN LORETTA SANCHEZ AND SUPERIOR COURT JUDGE FREDERICK P. AGUIRRE

SANTA ANA, CA (July 10, 2012) – On Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. the Santa Ana Public Library will host Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez and Judge Frederick P. Aguirre during its weekly Teen Civics program. The program will consist of both the Congresswoman and Judge speaking to our public on the topic of ‘Making a Difference: Law, Politics, and Civil Engagement.’ The program will commence promptly at 3pm with Judge Aguirre speaking to the public and hosting a short question and answer session. Judge Aguirre has served as Superior Court Judge for the County of Orange since 2002. Following Judge Aguirre’s talk, Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez will speak to the youth and the public about being proactive in your community. She will speak from 3:30 – 4:00 p.m. Sanchez has been a Congresswoman for California’s 47th Congressional District since 1997. After the presentations both speakers are invited to sit in for TeenSpace’s weekly Teen Civics program where the participants will discuss issues related to the 1st Amendment and the Bill of Rights.
