Parenting OC returns to the O.C. Discovery Cube for its 12th Anniversary Edition of their FREE Kids’ Summer Opportunities Jamboree event on March 3, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.. This is an all ages free family event!

EARLY CHILDHOOD READING ON SATURDAY, MARCH 3 AT HERITAGE MUSEUM IN SANTA ANA
The program works with early childhood educators to reduce achievement gaps for children in underserved communities
Families from across Orange County are expected to attend UC Irvine’s Jumpstart’s free annual Spring Literacy event on Saturday, March 3, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Heritage Museum of Orange County at 3101 W. Harvard St., in Santa Ana. The exciting event supports the development of literacy through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities, readings from children’s authors, activities such as making your own balloon rocket car, science experiments, and other STEAM related activities to encourage an interest in reading among preschool age children.
Jumpstart will give more than 1,000 free books to children who attend the event. Nurses from Santa Ana Unified School District will be present as well to provide free basic health screenings for children. Children’s author Annie Banannie, who brings stories to life with her unique balloon storytelling, will also be at the event. Continue reading

Community: Santa Ana Public Library Invites Youth to Participate in “Hour of Code!”
Santa Ana, CA – The Santa Ana Public Library recently received a $25,000 grant from the American Library Association (ALA) to pilot coding programs for youth and young adults in the City of Santa Ana! The Santa Ana Public Library is one of 28 libraries nationally to receive a grant from Libraries Ready to Code, an initiative of the American Library Association sponsored by Google, promoting early development of Computer Science (CS) and Computational Thinking (CT) skills in young people around the globe!
International Computer Science Education Week kicks off programming events on Monday, December 4, 2017 and will wrap up on Sunday, December 10, 2017. Twin Ocelots “Spotted” at the Santa Ana Zoo!
SANTA ANA, Calif. – What is black, white and orange all over? Twin Ocelot kittens! Born August 20th at the Santa Ana Zoo, this purr-fect duo have been bonding with their mother in their den, and are now enjoying their new home within our Ocelot Exhibit and Education Center. The twin births mark the second pregnancy for their mother. Her first offspring, a beautiful male, left the Santa Ana Zoo earlier this year to start a family of his own at the LA Zoo and Botanical Garden. Continue reading

Community: Madison Park Walk-A-Thon and Faire / Caminata Anual y Feria de Madison Park
SANTA ANA, CA – On Saturday, September 30, 2017, the City of Santa Ana in collaboration with the Madison Neighborhood Association will be hosting the 15th Annual Madison Park Neighborhood Association Walk-A-Thon, Resource Faire and Cultural Festival taking place from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Registration will begin at 7:30 am; the walk will take place from 8:30 am to 10:00 pm. The Resource Faire and Cultural Festival will feature local talent such as ballet folklorico, dancers and a disc jockey from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm. The event will be held at Madison Park, located at 1528 S. Standard Ave., Santa Ana, CA 92707.
A goal of Madison Park Neighborhood Association is to encourage residents to use the park and trail system often as they get fit and healthy. In 2005 the Association formed a partnership with the City of Santa Ana to combat illegal camping, graffiti, trash, and to improve the maintenance and the look of the park and trail system in their neighborhood. A free exotic car show is set for Sep. 9 at Protective Film Solutions, in Santa Ana. The event will benefit Tilly’s Life Center, a non-profit organization that benefits youth.
The event will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 3502 S. Susan St., in Santa Ana.
There will be over 75 exotic cars on display including Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Bugattis, Paganis and Koenigseggs. Food, drinks and live music will be available too. Continue reading
BACK TO SCHOOL BASH PLANNED FOR AUGUST 5, 2017
For the first time, the SAUSD will be hosting a Welcome Back to School Bash at the Santa Ana Public Schools Sports Complex on Saturday, August 5, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. to help their students prepare for the 2017-18 academic year.
During this fun-filled and educational event, students will receive free backpacks and school supplies, free health screenings, support with registration and enrolling in our district, free samples of food from Nutrition Services, and prizes and giveaways from La Ranchera 96.7 FM. Continue reading
