CONGRESSWOMAN LINDA SÁNCHEZ ENDORSES FORMER SENATOR LOU CORREA FOR CONGRESS
SANTA ANA, CA – In an early and significant development, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-37) has officially endorsed former State Senator Lou Correa to replace Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez in the 46th Congressional District.
“I have known and worked with Lou for more than 20 years. He has spent the majority of his life in Orange County and he has served almost three quarters of the 46th Congressional District since 1998 — as an Assemblyman, a Supervisor, and a State Senator. I have followed him over the years as he made decisions based on the best interests of those he represented,” said Congresswoman Linda Sánchez.
“It is an honor for me to earn the endorsement of Congresswoman Linda Sánchez, a devoted and engaged public servant who works every day for our working families,” said Senator Lou Correa, who received the endorsement at an event in Santa Ana, the heart of the 46th Congressional District. “I am honored to have her trust, her counsel, and her participation as we build this open, grassroots campaign to represent the interests of all of Central Orange County.”
Congresswoman Linda Sánchez is a leader in Congress serving as a Senior Whip for the Democratic Caucus and Chair for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. She is the ranking member on the House Ethics Committee and is on the House Committee on Ways and Means. Congresswoman Linda Sánchez has broken many barriers in Congress, including becoming the first Latina to serve on the House Judiciary Committee and House Ways and Means Committee.
Sánchez shared at the Santa Ana event, “During Lou Correa’s tenure in public service he has demonstrated leadership by bringing millions of dollars back to Orange County and has introduced and supported measures enhancing the lives of those in his district. He is truly a man of integrity and honesty.”
“When I served as Executive Secretary-Treasurer for the Orange County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, I knew, without question, I could count on then- Assemblyman Lou Correa to fight for issues important to the middle class and hard-working families. In 2002, when I announced my campaign for Congress in a contested primary election, Lou had the courage to be one of the first to endorse my candidacy. Today, I am proud to endorse Lou Correa for Congress 2016,” concluded Congresswoman Sánchez. “I genuinely believe he is the best candidate to carry on my sister’s legacy.”
The primary election will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2016.
