Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez dresses up for the Tet Festival but won’t co-sponsor the Dream Act
A new Facebook page is asking Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez to co-sponsor the Dream Act. Here is what they are saying online:
Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez is running for re-election this year and has refused to co-sponsor the DREAM Act once again. Every year that students have met with her, its the same story…that she will not co-sponsor. Ms. Sanchez has referred to a DREAM student as “selfish” for wanting to fulfill his professional DREAM. We are tired of Loretta NOT representing the community. It is time that our voices are heard once and for all! Enough is enough!! If you live in her district and demand that she support ALL students, please join this group.
Loretta Sanchez represents the 47th Congressional District, which encompasses the Southern California cities of Santa Ana and Garden Grove and portions of Anaheim and Fullerton.
Loretta is “proudly” serving her seventh term in Congress, and is the first and only Latina woman ever to be elected to Congress from Orange County.
What does Co-sponsorship of a bill mean?
Sponsoring and Co-Sponsoring a bill is similar to Moving or Seconding a motion in a committee. Essentially, the Sponsor and Co-Sponsor(s) are the persons who are actually bringing the bill before the Senate (or House) and asking for it to be considered. (Wilkipedia)

Sample message when calling Loretta Sanchez:
“Hi, I am calling in support of the DREAM Act (S.729 / H.R. 1751). The DREAM Act lays the groundwork for immigration reform and allows immigrant youth of good moral character to make crucial economic contributions to the United States. To not pass the act at a time when this country needs an economic stimulus and a more educated workforce would be great folly. We are tired of Congresswoman Sanchez refusing to co-sponsor this bill. I urge Loretta Sanchez to become a cosponsor of the DREAM Act now!”
Why force Loretta to support the Dream Act when she clearly doesn’t want to…Ceci Iglesias does support it and would try to implement it if she’s voted to CD 47.
