The family and friends of Isaac Gonzalez, a 15-year old TKO boxer who was shot and murdered by gangbangers in Santa Ana on March 25, is hosting a Kermes and Car Wash to help pay for his funeral expenses on April 2, 2017, starting at 7 a.m., at 2023 S. Susan St., in Santa Ana.

A Kermes is a what a Catholic religious bazaar is called in Spanish. It’s usually a fundraiser, often held at a church, where rides, games, music, dancing and food are available. In Santa Ana Kermes are often used to help local families to pay for funeral expenses and also to help to pay medical bills when someone becomes very ill. Continue reading→

56 OC Business and Community Leaders to Experience a Day in the life of a Principal during SAUSD’s Principal for a Day Program

The Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) will host “Principal for a Day” to provide members of the community an opportunity to experience the daily operation of a school. Each of the district’s 56 schools will have a guest principal from the community on campus. Following their morning assignments at their specified schools, the guest principals will join all the principals in the SAUSD for a luncheon and program at McFadden Intermediate School, where they will share their experiences as Principals for a Day. Santa Ana man charged with molesting two girls, including one younger than 10

Joseph Margo, a 48-year-old man was charged Monday with sexually assaulting two girls, including one who was 10 or younger, in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.

Margo is facing numerous felony charges including two counts each of sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child 10 or younger, committing a lewd or lascivious act with a minor younger than 14, oral copulation or sexual penetration of a child 10 or younger, and lewd acts on a child aged 14 or 15. KPMG’s Nationwide “Read to Succeed” Initiative comes to Taft Elementary School in Santa Ana on March 29, 2017

KPMG volunteers will read to students; 1,000 new books to be distributed to children

As part of KPMG’s nationwide “Read to Succeed” initiative, its 100+ offices throughout the United States are conducting events in the coming weeks at schools and organizations in low-income communities at which KPMG people, spouses, family members, and alumni, will volunteer their time to get more than 150,000 new books into the hands of children who need them most.

In Santa Ana, KPMG volunteers will be reading to Taft’s K-6 general education, special education, deaf, and hard of hearing students and providing each of them with books. Continue reading→

Tutor at Santa Ana’s Think Together arrested for distributing child porn

Anthony Robert Chau, a 28-year-old Rowland Heights man who worked with students in Orange County, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of distributing child pornography by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, according to the O.C. Register.

Chau came to the attention of detectives during an operation that was not specifically targeting him but targeting people who trade child pornography online, Wegener said. It did not appear that Chau manufactured any of the footage he distributed, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. Continue reading→

Councilman Tinajero wants to increase your local sales tax, since his position on the ICE contract will cost the City $8-$9 million!

Finally had a chance to see last week’s City Council meeting. Wow, what a meeting! Long discussion about the ICE contract and city jobs that may be lost and bunch of other stuff. Unfortunately, Councilmembers Sal Tinajero, Vincente Sarmiento and David Benavides did not vote for continuing the ICE contract as Councilman Jose Solorio wanted.

So that means that the city will have $8-$9 million dollars less for the general fund every year now and could lose 20 to 30 part time and full time city jobs at the jail. Continue reading→

A Santa Ana motorcyclist died in a traffic collision in Fountain Valley

PRESS RELEASE/ FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION

On March 25, 2017 at approximately 7:15 p.m., the Fountain Valley Police Department responded to the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Heil Avenue, next to Mile Square Park, regarding a traffic collision involving a Lexus SUV and a motorcyclist.

Officers arrived and found a male motorcyclist with traumatic injuries. Paramedics were summoned to the scene. The paramedics pronounced the motorcyclist, identified as 20 year old Armando Vega Andrade from Santa Ana, deceased at the scene. Continue reading→

Isaac Gonzalez, a 15-year-old boy, died at a local hospital Sunday, March 26, after being shot multiple times Saturday night, according to the O.C. Register.

On Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 11:51 p.m., Santa Ana Police Department Communications received a call of a male down and bleeding in the area of 2302 W. St. Gertrude. Santa Ana Police Officers and Orange County Fire Authority personnel arrived on the scene and found the 15 year old male victim, Gonzalez, suffering from several gunshot wounds. Fire department personnel transported Gonzalez to an area hospital where he ultimately died. Continue reading→

Two men were shot and seriously injured in Santa Ana on Sunday night

Two men were in critical condition Monday morning after being shot in the 2500 block of South Bristol Street around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the O.C. Register.

One of the men was shot in his upper torso. The other man was shot in his lower torso then he fell into the street and was struck by a vehicle, according to the SAPD. The driver of that vehicle stopped at the scene and cooperated with the police. Continue reading→

Three more shootings were reported in Santa Ana this weekend

On Saturday, March 25 at about 4:30 p.m. SAPD police officers responded to 317 E. 17th Street after receiving a phone call regarding shots fired. A witness told the police officers that he approached a couple in the parking lot involved in an argument when the male threatened him with a gun. The couple left and later the male returned with a handgun and shot at the witness narrowly missing him but striking the building, according to SAPD Case # 17-08025.

This shooting happened near the 5 Freeway in in Santa Ana’s Ward 3, which is represented by Councilman Jose Solorio. Continue reading→

Jose Regalado Jr., a 23-year-old Santa Ana man, died on Friday morning when his motorcycle crashed on the 22 freeway, at 8:43 a.m., according to the O.C. Register.

Regalado, Jr. was riding a Harley Davidson east on the 22 near Bristol Street, according to the CHP. As traffic ahead was slowing to a stop, Regalado, Jr. tried to change lanes but then lost control of his motorcycle and it struck the roadway. Continue reading→

Santa Ana gangbanger gets a 7 year prison sentence for shooting at police officers

Oscar Freddie Torres, a 19-year-old Santa Ana gang member, was sentenced to seven years in prison on Friday, for shooting at SAPD police officers who were responding to a domestic dispute, according to the O.C. Register.

Torres was able to avoid attempted murder charges by pleading guilty on Nov. 29 to grossly negligent discharge of a firearm. Torres still got a lengthy prison sentence because he also admitted to sentencing enhancement allegations regarding the personal use of a firearm and criminal street gang activity. Continue reading→
