Advisory: Detectives Request Media And Publics Assistance Identifying Sexual Assault Suspect

On 12/27/2016, at about 10:46 pm, an adult female was parking her vehicle in the 1600 Block of South Pacific Avenue in Santa Ana, when she was approached by a suspect. The suspect opened the driver’s side vehicle door at which time he entered the vehicle and pulled down his pants, exposing himself to her.

The suspect pushed himself on top of the victim and attempted to sexually assault her. The victim screamed and kicked violently, forcing the suspect off of her and out of the vehicle. The suspect fled on foot west on Occidental Street. The victim and a witness provided the above descriptions to a sketch artist. Continue reading→

Man stabbed after he stole a motorcycle helmet outside of the Proof Bar in DTSA

Yet another stabbing has occurred in Santa Ana, this time in DTSA as a 27-year old man was leaving the Proof Bar, at 300 North Broadway, where he had been drinking with his friends, according to the SAPD, Case Number 16-34291.

The attack happened at 12:17 a.m. this morning when the man in question stole a helmet from a motorcycle that was parked in front of Proof. The owner of the helmet and 6-7 of his friends immediately chased down the man and then assaulted him. One of the attackers, a male Hispanic in his 30s who was wearing a leather jacket, then stabbed the man twice in his abdomen. Continue reading→

A Santa Ana man was killed by an explosive device at his home last night

The year 2016 cannot end soon enough! A violent year in Santa Ana was capped on Thursday night by a visit by the O.C. Sheriff’s Department bomb squad to a Santa Ana home after a 61-year old man, Nong Nguyen, was found in a bedroom that may have been booby trapped with improvised explosive devices, according to the O.C. Register.

Nguyen lived at the 2200 block of North Jetty Street. His family got worried when he failed to answer a knock on his bedroom door just before 8 p.m., according to the SAPD. Continue reading→

Gerardo Mouet, the executive director of the Santa Ana Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency, has been named Santa Ana’s acting City Manager, according to the O.C. Register.

A man was stabbed to death tonight in south Santa Ana

There was a homicide tonight in Santa Ana at 3802 S. Flower Street, according to SAPD Case number 16-34273.

SAPD police responded to the scene at about 8 p.m. after receiving a call about a fight. When the police officers arrived they found Gregorio Rojas Magdaleno, a 41-year old male, with a stab wound to his neck. Continue reading→

Advisory: Crime Alert -Extortion And Kidnapping Scam

The Santa Ana Police Department is investigating an extortion scam in which the suspect(s) claim to have kidnapped a victim’s family members. On 12/29/16, the victim received a telephone call from an unknown male that claimed to have kidnapped the victim’s daughter. The victim heard a female voice in the background which she believed was her daughter’s. The suspect demanded a $500 ransom from the victim before they would release her daughter. Out of concern for her daughter’s safety, the victim remained on the call with the suspect while she responded to a local wire transfer business where she electronically transferred the funds to the suspect(s). The new Santa Ana City Council majority has placed our awful City Manager on leave

Santa Ana residents got a late Christmas present today as our overpaid and oversexed City Manager, David Cavazos, was placed on paid administrative leave after a 4-0 City Council vote Wednesday afternoon, according to the O.C. Register.

As one might expect Cavazos’ allies on the City Council – Sal Tinajero, David Benavides and Vince Sarmiento, complained about this because they were not at today’s special meeting. Apparently they are all on vacation. Oh well! Even if they were here they could not have stopped this as Mayor Miguel Pulido had four votes on his side. Continue reading→

Do you remember when Santa Ana Council Member David Benavides called for a special City Council meeting back on Dec. 27, 2012, so he and his Council colleagues could fire our former City Manager, Paul Walters?

Apparently the editors at the Voice of OC have forgotten about that as they are now having a cow because Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido has called for a special City Council meeting for the middle of the workday Wednesday with a single agenda item that could lead to the ouster of City Manager David Cavazos. A drive by shooter wounded a newspaper delivery man this morning by three Santa Ana schools

Santa Ana is ending the year with a violent bang. This morning at about 4 a.m. a 55-year old man who was delivering newspapers noticed that he was being followed by another vehicle. The victim pulled over to the side of the road at 1700 West Occidental and then the occupant of the suspect vehicle fired a gun at him multiple times, hitting him once in his upper body, according to SAPD Case number 16-33963.

Man seriously injured in hit and run accident last night at N. Euclid and W. Hazard

An unidentified pedestrian in his 50s is in critical condition at a local hospital after he was hit by two cars Friday evening, one of which fled, at Euclid Street and Hazard Ave., in Santa Ana, last night at around 9:50 p.m., according to the O.C. Register.

The victim was hit by a silver car that kept on going and while he was on the ground he was run over by a Honda, according to the SAPD. Continue reading→

2-1-1 Orange County Announces 2017 Point-In-Time Count and Survey

On January 28, 2017 (4:30 a.m.-9 a.m.) in the early morning hours 2-1-1 Orange County (211-OC) along with 1500 volunteers will conduct the 7th biennial countywide homeless population Point-in-Time Count and Survey.

Point-in-Time (PIT) is a federally mandated, biennial, enumeration and survey to determine the prevalence and characteristics of persons experiencing homelessness in Orange County. PIT helps us better understand who is facing homelessness on a given night so that we can advocate for additional resources to provide services for the homeless population, ultimately ending homelessness in our community. Registered sex offender pleads guilty to exposing himself to women on OCTA buses

Stephen Ponte Garcia, a 37-year-old registered sex offender with a lengthy criminal record, pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges of exposing himself to female passengers on Orange County buses and was immediately sentenced to only three years in prison, according to the O.C. Register.

Garcia pleaded guilty to two felony counts of indecent exposure with prior convictions stemming from incidents on Sept. 28 and Oct. 5. Continue reading→

Synopsis: On 12/18/16, the Santa Ana Police Department responded to the report of a burglary at the Orange County Fire Authority Fire Station #72 located at 1688 East 4th Street. The subsequent investigation revealed that arson fires were set in nearby neighborhoods to draw firefighters away from the station allowing the burglar(s) to enter the station as the fire engine left to fight the fire.
