Claudia Hernandez, 35, pleaded guilty Monday and was immediately sentenced to four years in prison for trying to kidnap Amy Martinez, a 12-year-old girl, as she was walking to school in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.
Hernandez, who was previously identified as Claudia Hernandez-Diaz, pleaded guilty to two felony charges – attempted kidnapping of a child younger than 14 and child stealing. Continue reading

Red GMC pick-up that crashed in Santa Ana

On Friday, November 23rd, 2018 at approximately 9:41pm., the Santa Ana, Tustin and Irvine Police Departments responded to the area of Red Hill Avenue and Dyer Road because of a reported traffic collision. An Irvine Police Officer was in the immediate area and assisted by checking on the involved parties of both vehicles. He, along with other good Samaritans, were able to remove four occupants from an involved vehicle before it burst into flames.
Unfortunately, an elderly female in the back seat was pinned by the collision and died in the fire. Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) personnel responded and extinguished the vehicle fire and pronounced the female passenger deceased. The other four occupants of the vehicle, two adults and two juveniles, and the involved driver were transported to local hospitals with moderate to major injuries. Orange County Expands Program to Provide Meals to Homeless, Elderly and Disabled Residents
Santa Ana, California – Fewer people in Orange County will go hungry.
On Tuesday, the Orange County Board of Supervisors approved $250,000 to expand the County’s Restaurant Meals Program, which provides meals to homeless, elderly and disabled residents who may otherwise go hungry.

John William Zelinski
John William Zelinski, a 63-year-old man, was sentenced Wednesday to only three years behind bars for fatally stabbing a homeless man in Santa Ana in 1984, according to the O.C. Register.
Zelinski had to be extradited from Arizona. He was charged with the May 18, 1984, cold case murder of Roy Thomas Emming, a homeless man in Santa Ana, at the 2000 block of Walnut Street. Continue reading
