Advisory: The Santa Ana Police Department Receives Traffic Education and Enforcement Grant

Santa Ana Police Department has been awarded a $457,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for a yearlong enforcement and public awareness program. The traffic safety program is intended to educate the public on safe roadway habits and deter people from violating traffic laws or practicing other unsafe behaviors that lead to injuries and fatalities.

“Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any controlled substance is a serious problem that every year results in the death and injury of motorists and pedestrians. This grant funding will permit us to focus our attention on the problem in a more efficient and effective manner. For example our “Behind The Line” community program, gives community members insight into what occurs at proactive DUI enforcement operations” commented Chief of Police David Valentin. OC Health Care Agency Releases Oral Health Strategic Plan and Launches ‘Smile Habits OC’ Website

(Santa Ana, CA) – The Orange County Local Oral Health Program (OC-LOHP) was established within the OC Health Care Agency (HCA) with funding from the California Department of Public Health last January. The group was tasked with conducting a comprehensive oral health needs assessment and engaging stakeholders to develop a strategic oral health plan, which is available today at www.ochealthinfo.com/oralhealth.

The plan builds on the expertise of stakeholders across Orange County such as health care providers and clinicians, CalOptima, educational institutions, community based organizations, local governmental agencies, local coalitions and collaboratives and takes into consideration existing programs, policies, best practices and environmental factors.

Victim: Esteban Daniel Andres (19) Santa Ana

On Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at 3:01 PM, SAPD officers responded to reports of a stabbing with a victim down in the area of 1700 North Wright Street. Officer located two victims with stab wounds, an adult male (19) and juvenile male (17). Orange County Fire Authority Paramedics treated both victims and transported them to a local trauma center. Attending physicians declared the adult victim deceased at 4:07 PM. The juvenile victim sustained non-life threatening wounds. Continue reading→

Lorena Gonzalez, a resident of Fullerton, has been missing since October 1. Her brother Alex Gonzalez reports that she is off her medication.

We reported yesterday that the SAPD has responded to a crime scene at 1441 E. 17th St., in Santa Ana., in Santa Ana, at about 5 p.m.

Location: McDonald’s – 1439 N Bristol St, Santa Ana, CA 92706

Suspect: Female, Hispanic, brown hair, approx. 20-25 years old, pink shirt and gray sweatpants.

On 10/27/18 at approximately 11:00 PM, the suspect entered the McDonald’s restaurant from the employee back door and asked for ketchup. When the store manager said she could not be in the building, the suspect became combative. The suspect pushed, punched, and choked the victim.

A fire damaged two homes at the 400 block of N. Laurel St., in Santa Ana, this morning just past 9 a.m., according to the OCFA.
