As has been our tradition, it is time to vote for the Santa Ana Man and Woman of the Year, for 2012. And we have quite a few great choices to choose from, in our poll below. You can vote for up to three nominees. Voting will close on January 8, 2013.
This year’s mayoral race produced three of our nominees – Mayor Miguel Pulido, and candidates David Benavides and George Collins. But we also delved into our city’s non-profit sector to find stellar nominees Dwight Smith, of the OC Catholic Worker; Armando De La Libertad, the Director of the Delhi Center; Scott Overpeck, of the awesome community project Laundry Love; Scott Glaab, the head of the Santa Ana Athletic Foundation and a local high school wrestling coach; and Benjamín Vázquez, of El Centro Cultural de Mexico.
Please let us know if we missed anyone and we can add them to our poll right away. Here is the poll – note that you may vote for up to three candidates at once:
Congratulations to our poll winner – Armando de la Libertad is our 2012 Santa Ana Man of the Year!
I nominate Tony 🙂
Good choice! I just added Tony to the mix…
Well as usually I am not there!
Now you are! Happy New Year Stanley!
But I am not Businessman Art!
I am “Santa Ana Oracle”.
Mayor Pulido recognized my Cristal Ball at ComLink remember?… you were there last time we have seen each other.
Problem is that he is not taking my prophetic opinions seriously until is too late.
I have predicted city takeover and its total destruction by the “Trojan Horse Candidates” in 2006. You were there too.
I have warn him in 2007 about a sex scandal and how detrimental it would be for the council.
I have warn him abort financial crises before the bubble burst.
I have wrote numerous briefs about the SA gangs and code of ethic.
List is long.
What about Michele Martinez?
You can vote for her over here: http://dev.newsantaana.com/2012/12/30/poll-who-is-santa-anas-2012-woman-of-the-year/
I voted for Fiala.
Because at this stage in the game it must become worse before it gets better.
“worse before it gets better”……. Hmmmmmm
Thanks Teo.
Stanley is the man. Followed closely by the kechup king Rocco.
and followed by pink-sliped-city-manager.
What about Rocco?
Rocco is ancient history.
I wish Santa Ana had a Rose Parade Float and that Roman and Michele sat on top.
Watching the parade right now, on TV. Love the band from Puebla, Mexico.
I too wish Santa Ana had a Rose Parade float. I think Former Councilwoman Pat McGuigan was in charge when Santa Ana had them and she and her son built them I think.
Her son is on the Santa Ana Zoo Board. A Santa Ana Zoo float would be pretty cool…
