A bomb scare reported in DTSA’s East End tonight turned out to be an inert grenade, according to the SAPD.
Apparently a large fight broke out at the Block Party, at 4th and French, in DTSA. While SAPD police officers were trying to break up the fight they came across a hand grenade in “close proximity.” Continue reading

UPDATE: The SAPD has declared the scene to be safe as of 10:36 a.m.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Bomb Squad used a robot to examine the suitcase that was left at 1300 North Grand Ave. today, just north of the 5 Freeway, according to the O.C. Register. The suitcase was suspected to be a bomb as it had wires sticking out of it.
The Bomb Squad’s robot took a photograph and x-ray of the suitcase, at around 10:30 a.m., before returning to three nearby deputies to be examined. Continue reading
A bomb scare has resulted in the closure of all lanes on North Grand Avenue between Santa Ana Boulevard and Seventeenth Street while Orange County Sheriff’s Department officials check out the threat, according to the O.C. Register.
As if Santa Ana was not on edge already with three escaped violent convicts on the loose!
The item that is at the heart of this latest disturbance is an abandoned black suitcase with wires sticking out of it. Continue reading
