Building a Strong California-Mexico Partnership

California and Mexico not only share strong historical and economic ties, but also a very close and cherished friendship. In March, I was privileged to introduce a delegation of four distinguished members from the Mexican National Senate to the California State Senate. Led by the Honorable Silvano Auroles Conejo, Vice President of the Mexican Senate, the delegation included Senators Adriana González Carrillo, Claudia Sofía Corichi García and Amira Gómez Tueme.
That same week, I was proud to co-host the 25th Border Legislative Conference (BLC), which convened in Sacramento March 28-30. Now in its 10th year, the BLC is comprised of legislators from the ten states along the U.S.-Mexico border: California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas. The BLC fosters dialogue and encourages collaboration among border state legislators on critical policy issues affecting both countries. Continue reading
