SAPD Chief Rojas to continue the annual police crackdown on Easter cruising

Well, we have a new Police Chief in Santa Ana, Carlos Rojas, but he is continuing the Santa Ana Police Department’s annual tradition of cracking down on Easter cruising, according to a press release issued today.

Here is what the SAPD is planning to do to stop the Easter cruising:

As with past years, the Santa Ana Police Department is taking pro-active measures to deter cruising activity throughout the city on Easter evening. Santa Ana Police Department Advisory: The Santa Ana Police Department graduated over 100 Santa Ana parents from the Santa Ana Police Parent Academy

On 03/07/13 and 03/08/13, The Santa Ana Police Department graduated over 100 Santa Ana parents from the Santa Ana Police Parent Academy. The Parent Academy is a comprehensive (5) WEEK/ 10 hour class, which exposes participants to parenting skills, narcotic awareness, child abuse, domestic violence and gang awareness. The classes are taught by subject matter experts to willing parents, who are eager to learn as much as they can about one of the most important topics of all; “parenting.” Continue reading→

There is so much going on today in Santa Ana that I chose to report it all in our infamous Political Chismes format, rather than post several articles.  Here we go!

  • Bad news for Busty.  Today was a bad day for former Santa Ana City Councilman Carlos Bustamante, as a “judge refused to dismiss a number of felony sex crime charges against him,” according to the O.C. Register.  Bustamante is accused of sexually assaulting seven women he worked with in his former job in the county’s Public Works Department. The judge also denied a motion to have the Orange County District Attorney’s Office taken off the case.  Bustamante worked to elect his former colleague, David Benavides, in last year’s Santa Ana Mayoral race.  Luckily Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido prevailed.  Will Benavides commisserate with Bustamante tonight?  Stop by Chapter One, in Downtown Santa Ana, and see if they show up.  Be sure to send us any pictures you get of these two tossing them down! Santa Ana Police Department’s Homeland Security Division will host an informational meeting for area businesses to obtain additional information about the BERT program from graduates of the advanced training program. The meeting will be held at Centennial Police Joint Training Facility, 3000 W.
