The NEW Annual Assessment Appeals Filing Period is from July 2, 2015 to November 30, 2015

(Santa Ana, CA) The Orange County Clerk of the Board reminds residents that the NEW Annual Filing Period for filing an assessment appeal is July 2, 2015 through November 30, 2015. If you believe the value of your property was less than the assessed value established by the Assessor for the January 1, 2015 lien date, you can challenge your assessment by filing an assessment appeal and have it heard by a three (3) member appeals board or a single hearing officer under certain circumstances.

You are not required to use a tax agent to file an appeal and Orange County does not charge a processing fee to file assessment appeals. Continue reading→

Supervisors Appoint New Clerk of the Board

(Santa Ana, CA) — The Orange County Board of Supervisors has appointed Susan D. Novak to serve as Clerk of the Board effective February 10, 2012.

Ms. Novak has served as Chief Deputy Clerk of the Board of Supervisors since 1997 and has been serving as Interim Clerk of the Board since the retirement of DarleneBloom. “Susan has the knowledge and experience needed to lead this importantoffice and the Board looks forward to working with her in this new capacity,” said Chairman John M.W. Two County Department Heads Announce Retirement Plans

(Santa Ana, CA) — The County of Orange has been notified by two current department heads of their plans to retire in the coming months. Clerk of the Board Darlene J. Bloom notified the Board of Supervisors that her retirement will be effective December 30, 2011, while Health Care Agency Director David L. Riley will retire in January 2012. “We appreciate the many years of dedicated service to the County provided by Darlene and Dave and know they will be missed by all of those in the County family and many in our community,” said Thomas G. Free Filing of Annual Assessment Appeals Now through Sept. 15

The Annual Assessment Appeals Filing Period is from July 2,– September 15, 2010

(Santa Ana, CA) The Orange County Clerk of the Board reminds residents that the Annual Filing Period for filing an assessment appeal began July 2, 2010 and will run through September 15, 2010. If you believe that the value of your property is less than the assessed value established by the Assessor for January 1, 2010 lien date, you can challenge your assessment by filing an assessment appeal. It is not necessary to use a tax agent or pay a fee to file an assessment appeal.

The Clerk of the Board has created an online e-file program that provides step-by-step assistance in completing your appeal form. You can locate the assessment appeals e-file program at http://assessmentappeals.ocgov.com/aa/. Workshops to better understand the appeal process and to assist you in preparing for your hearing are held at various libraries throughout the County. Workshop schedules can be found at http://www.ocgov.com/cob. Again, there is NO charge for filing an assessment appeal.

New Online Tool Helps Property Owners with Tax Refund Claims

(Santa Ana, CA) – The Orange County Clerk of the Board’s Office has launched a new online Claim for Refund of Taxes and/or Penalties Paid tool that provides residents a way to complete and track their property tax claim forms online.

The new online process helps claimants ensure that all required information is complete – reducing processing and wait time. The tool creates a claim form that residents can print out and provides helpful instructions, including where to mail the signed form and a reminder to attach all supporting evidence. Once the form has been received by the Clerk of the Board, claimants may then track the status of their claim online. Continue reading→
