Santa Ana Unified School District’s Statement on the Arrest of Omar Rojas

SANTA ANA, CA (August 7, 2018) – Santa Ana Unified School District was notified, August 3, 2018 that Omar Rojas, a volleyball coach at Century High School and District Safety Officer at Sierra Preparatory Academy was arrested and booked for allegations of sexual misconduct with a former student of Century. These allegations are being taken seriously and are in direct conflict of the District’s zero-tolerance policy relating to staff misconduct, in which all district employees are held at the highest ethical standards. This includes reporting any suspicious activity involving abuse or neglect of a child directly to authorities, as mandated by law. Failure to do so is a criminal violation of the law. Advisory: DETECTIVES ARREST HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL COACH & SAFETY OFFICER FOR MULTIPLE SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGES

Arrestee: Omar Rojas (28) Santa Ana

Synopsis: A 28-year-old volleyball coach at Century High School was arrested for having sex with several minor students. Omar Rojas is also currently employed as a District Safety Officer for the Santa Ana Unified School District. Santa Ana Unified School District Police contacted the Santa Ana Police Department to report allegations that Rojas had sexual intercourse with several students.

Santa Ana Police Department Special Crimes Section Detectives commenced the investigation and concluded that the incidents occurred in 2015. Rojas was not a District Safety Officer when these crimes were committed. On numerous occasions, Rojas would have the victims excused from class in order to meet them for the purposes of engaging in sexual activity on campus. The victims were 17-years-old at the time and no longer students at Century High School. Continue reading→

Dustin Lee Morgan, a 39-year-old Texas man is scheduled to be sentenced on July 20, for breaking into an 8-year-old girl’s bedroom in Santa Ana and molesting her, according to the O.C. Register.

Garden Grove man identified by his DNA pleads guilty to a sexual assault and robbery case

Danny Thien Nguyen, a 28-year-old Garden Grove man pleaded guilty Thursday to sexually assaulting a woman during a robbery in Fountain Valley in 2012, and he was immediately sentenced to 22 years in prison, according to the O.C. Register.

Nguyen accepted charges of sexual penetration by a foreign object and force, kidnapping, robbery and sexual battery, which are all felonies. Nguyen also admitted to a sentencing enhancement for the use of a gun in the attack. Continue reading→

Advisory: SAPD Detectives Arrest Suspect For Child Molestation & Possession Of Child Pornography. Detectives Believe There May Be Additional Victims

Suspect/Arrested: Antonio Davila (36) Santa Ana

A 36-year-old registered sex offender was arrested for child molestation and possession of child pornography. Antonio Davila took a picture of himself engaging in a sex act with a 7-year-old relative. Davila sent the photo to the child through her Snapchat account. The account was created by the child’s older sibling. The child was playing on her tablet when her mother discovered the message containing the disturbing image. The child’s mother reacted quickly and took a photo of the message before it disappeared. The child’s mother immediately called the police. Davila was arrested and Santa Ana Police detectives were called to investigate. Continue reading→

A Tustin man was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape

Norman Ibarra, a 28-year-old man from Tustin, is under arrest on suspicion of attempted rape, sexual assault and kidnapping after he allegedly attacked a woman walking along Mitchell Avenue in Tustin, May 12, according to the O.C. Register.

Ibarra was identified through surveillance and a canvas of the area and the police were also able to connect the suspect to the crime through DNA evidence found at the scene, according to the Tustin Police. Continue reading→

OCSD Investigators Seeking Additional Victims of Child Annoyance Suspect

Santa Ana, Calif. (April 12, 2017)- On Wednesday, April 11, OCSD North Investigations and Special Victims Unit investigators arrested Mike Patrick Thomas, 50, of Tustin, on child annoyance charges related to inappropriate communication and contact with a female juvenile.

Thomas is believed to have engaged in inappropriate contact, text messaging and conversations with the victim. MAN WHO SODOMIZED TODDLER SENTENCED 25 YEARS TO LIFE IN PRISON AFTER COURT OF APPEAL REVERSED TRIAL JUDGE’S ILLEGAL SENTENCE

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – A man who sodomized a toddler was sentenced today to 25 years to life in state prison after the Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, Division One reversed a trial judge’s illegal 10-year sentence.

“Sodomizing a 4 year old is obviously a heinous crime. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office rightfully pursued the life sentence to make sure this defendant received the mandatory 25 years to life,” stated District Attorney Tony Rackauckas.
