On July 21, 2015, a 24-year-old female came into the Tustin Police Department to report she had been sexually abused in the City of Tustin between the ages of 12 and 15. Tustin Police Detectives investigated the incident and were able to quickly corroborate the victim’s statements. The suspect was arrested the same day at his residence in the City of Stanton.

The suspect, Carmen Simonetta, 54-years old, was booked at the Orange County Jail on charges of lewd acts on a child, sodomy, digital penetration and continual sexual abuse of a minor. Continue reading→

OCDA AND GGPD SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IDENTIFYING POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL VICTIMS OF YOUTH GROUP VOLUNTEER CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT AND SEXUAL BATTERY OF MULTIPLE YOUNG BOYS

WESTMINSTER, Calif.– The Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) and the Garden Grove Police Department (GGPD) are seeking the public’s help identifying potential additional victims of a youth group volunteer charged with sexually assaulting two boys under the age of 18. Isai Beltran, 25, Long Beach, is charged with two felony counts of performing lewd acts on a child under the age of 14, one misdemeanor count of sexual battery, and one misdemeanor count of child annoyance. If convicted, Beltran faces a maximum of 10 years in state prison. Beltran is out of custody on $100,000 bail, and is scheduled for a continued arraignment, tomorrow, July 24, 2015, at 8:30 a.m. in Department W-12, West Justice Center, Westminster.

Between January 2013 and December 2014, Beltran is accused of working as a youth group volunteer at several churches in Los Alamitos and Cypress. Continue reading→

COSTA MESA POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFICER CHARGED FOR COMMITTING INSURANCE FRAUD AGAINST CITY OF COSTA MESA

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) officer was charged today for committing insurance fraud by presenting a false insurance claim and making false material statements related to the claim. Ryan Patrick Natividad, 30, Corona, is charged with one felony count of insurance fraud and one felony count of making a fraudulent statement. If convicted, Natividad faces a maximum sentence of six years in jail. He is expected to be arraigned tomorrow in Department C-55, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. The time is to be determined.

On Sept. 23, 2014, Natividad is accused of reporting a work-related injury to his employer CMPD. Natividad is accused of falsely claiming earlier in the day, he had struck his fist against a wall when attempting to prevent an arrestee from stumbling into the wall while escorting the arrestee from the patrol vehicle into jail. Natividad is accused of filing a fraudulent workers’ compensation claim. He was subsequently directed by CMPD to seek immediate medical attention. Continue reading→

UPDATE: Toxicology Results & Cause of Death

SANTA ANA, Calif. – (July 22, 2015) – On Tuesday, July 21, 2015, Orange County Sheriff’s Department investigators obtained results of toxicology tests performed on Erica Alonso, 28, Laguna Hills. The results indicate Ms. Alonso had varying levels of alcohol and Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (GHB) in her system at the time of her death.

Based on the Ms. Alonso’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .22 and the amount of GHB found in her system, the Coroner Division has determined the combination and amounts were lethal. The Coroner Division has determined the cause of death to be an overdose; however, the manner remains undetermined. Continue reading→

FATHER TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR MURDERING INFANT BOY AND COMMITTING LEWD ACTS ON 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A father is scheduled to be arraigned today for murdering his infant boy and committing lewd acts on a 14-year-old girl. Jordan Peter Mendez, 20, Santa Ana, is charged with one felony count of murder and one felony count of committing lewd acts upon a child under the age of 14. If convicted, Mendez faces a maximum sentence of 33 years to life in state prison. Mendez is currently being held on $ 1 million bail and is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana.

Between June 1, 2014, and Aug. 31, 2014, Mendez is accused of committing lewd acts upon Jane Doe, who was under the age of 14. Continue reading→

Santa Ana City Councilman Sal Tinajero will term out in 2018 but before he leaves he wants to put a rainbow flag next to the US and State flags at City Hall, as we posted about earlier this week.

We find it ridiculous that Tinajero is wasting civic time and resources on this when our city has so many other more serious problems – including a rise in crime and an out of control Santa Ana Police Department that is being sued for beating up a suspect and for breaking and entering into medical marijuana clinics, destroying their property and eating their marijuana edibles. Advisory: SAPD Detectives Investigate Possible Child Homicide

On Friday, 07-17-15, at approximately 8:42 pm, Santa Ana police officers were dispatched to the 800 block of W. Stevens in reference to a baby not breathing. When officers arrived, they confirmed the 3-month old infant was not breathing. Officers and OCFA personnel performed CPR on the infant and he was subsequently transported to CHOC in critical condition.

CHOC medical staff observed signs of physical trauma on the infant. The infant is currently on life support and is not expected to survive. Homicide detectives responded to handle the investigation. Continue reading→

DMV EMPLOYEE CONVICTED AND SENTENCED FOR TAKING BRIBES TO OBTAIN DRIVER’S LICENSES FOR TWO APPLICANTS

WESTMINSTER, Calif. – A Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) employee was convicted and sentenced today for accepting bribes from customers in exchange for providing California driver’s licenses (CDL). Jose Alberto Carrillo, 47, Fresno, pleaded guilty to the court to two felony counts of altering public documents and two felony counts of computer access and fraud. He was sentenced to one year in jail stayed pending completion of 40 hours of community service and three years formal probation, over the objection of the People.

At the time of the crimes, Carrillo worked as a Motor Vehicle Representative at the Westminster DMV Office. Continue reading→

Community Alert: Sexual Registrant Arrested

Shortly after 6 a.m. this morning, Costa Mesa Police Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex on the 2100 block of Orange Avenue regarding the report of a naked male found by residents on their porch. Officers located and arrested the nude male, 43-year old Jeffrey Smith. Costa Mesa Police Detectives had been investigating Smith, since May of 2015, for several cases involving sexual battery, burglary, indecent exposure, peeping, prowling and trespassing. Those earlier cases all occurred during early morning hours on the east side of Costa Mesa.

In late April, Smith had been arrested for failing to register as a sex offender with Costa Mesa, and he was sentenced to 60 days in jail. Approximately one month later, in May, Smith was arrested in Costa Mesa for battery and trespassing charges. In early July, Smith was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender with Costa Mesa, however, upon formal review of the case by court staff, he was subsequently released from custody. Big A Bandit arrested by the FBI and he turned out to be a Santa Ana resident

Another embarrassment for Santa Ana. Turns out the so-called “Big A Bandit,” who got that name because he habitually wore an Angels baseball hat while committing a series of bank robberies in Orange County, lived in Santa Ana.

The man, Robert Paul Simmons, 51, was arrested on Tuesday night, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said, according to the O.C. Register. Continue reading→

Chris Rochelle Baker Jr., 26, Long Beach, is charged with one felony count of attempted pimping. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of six years in state prison. Baker is being held on $35,000 bail and must prove that the money is from a legal and legitimate source before posting bond. A 22-year-old Santa Ana woman was involved in motorcycle hit and run accident on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 11:30 p.m., on Broadway and First Street, right in front of an Arco Gas station, not far from Birch Park.

The man who hit her was driving a black or dark green 1996 Toyota Corolla.

WESTMINSTER – A man has been charged for trafficking an 18-year-old woman and physically assaulting her, including burning her leg with a blow torch, and forcing her to work as a prostitute for his benefit. Richard Jordan Sandoval, 24, is charged with two felony counts of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, two felony counts of domestic battery with corporal injury, one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud, or deceit, one felony count of human trafficking, one felony count of pandering by promise, threat, or violence to become a prostitute, and one felony count of criminal threats. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in state prison. He is being held on $150,000 bail and must prove the money is from a legal and legitimate source before posting bond. SANTA ANA – The Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) and the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD) are seeking the public’s help identifying potential additional victims of Disneyland employee charged today with attempting to sell tickets to Disneyland in exchange for sex with a minor. Darreck Michael Enciso, 27, Adelanto, is charged with one felony count of attempted lewd act upon a child, one felony count of contacting a child with the intent to commit a specified sex crime, and one felony count of meeting a minor with the intent to engage in lewd conduct. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of four years and eight months in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration. The People will be requesting the defendant be held on $100,000 bail at his arraignment scheduled this afternoon, July 13, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. in CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana.
