Orange County Sheriff’s Department Awarded DUID Enhanced Testing Grant

SANTA ANA, Ca. (Nov. 2, 2018) – The Orange County Sheriff’s Department – OC Crime Lab has been awarded a $316,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for training and enhanced DUID testing.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department will use the funding to efficiently test all blood samples collected in DUI investigations for the presence of drugs, regardless of the blood alcohol concentration (BAC). Continue reading→

Amer Alhasan, 28, of La Habra, was arrested late on Wednesday afternoon at LAX as he was waiting to board a flight he had already checked into – which was described by the Anaheim Police as an attempt to escape from this country.

Alhasan was wanted on suspicion of killing Tyanie Sopheap Ly, 38, of Santa Ana, then stuffing her body in a duffel bag that was left in a dumpster on the 2100 block of Balboa Plaza on or before Tuesday, Oct. 30, according to the O.C. Register. Continue reading→

An O.C. man was charged with hate crimes and assault after attacking several Latinos and police officers

Felony hate crime and other charges were filed Tuesday against Bryce Cameron Agius, 27, a man accused of directing racially derogatory comments at four Latino men, throwing a knife at a Costa Mesa police officer and head-butting another officer when taken to jail, according to the O.C. Register.

Agius, who is white, is charged with four counts of committing a hate crime and one count each of assault with a weapon on a peace officer and resisting arrest, according to Deputy District Attorney Jake Jondle, according to CBS News. Continue reading→

Arrested: Daniel Posadas Renteria (34), transient

On 10/27/18 at approximately 7 pm a suspect was caught on surveillance video in a residential backyard. The suspect was naked, peeping into the residential windows, and masturbating. A nude man was caught on video peering into a home in Santa Ana for about an hour

A Santa Ana homeowner is alerting other residents after her home surveillance cameras captured a naked man prowling in her backyard for about an hour, peering into windows as three other women were inside looking after the house, according to KTLA News.

The homeowner, who wishes to remain anonymous, was not home at the time – but her house guests called her during the incident.  Continue reading→

On October 27, 2018 at 10:40 AM, an 89-year old elderly male was attacked and stabbed in the restroom of the McDonald’s located at 13971 Harbor Blvd., in Garden Grove.

The attack was unprovoked and the motive is unknown. The victim was washing his hands when the suspect started punching and stabbing him numerous times. The suspect then fled on foot and ran westbound on Westminster Ave. Continue reading→

A Santa Ana man is facing 27 years to life in prison after molesting ten boys

Edwin Damean Echeverria, 26, of Santa Ana, admitted molesting 10 boys in Santa Ana is facing 27 years to life in prison, a prosecutor according to NBC News.

Jacob Michael Margo, 24, a Santa Ana resident, was convicted Monday of killing a 19-year-old man, Octavio Jesus Alcala, at an Irvine construction site because he suspected the victim stole his bike, according to the O.C. Register.

Margo is facing up to 50 years to life in prison after getting convicted of first-degree murder with a sentencing enhancement for the use of a gun in the killing. He is set to be sentenced on Feb. 1. Continue reading→

Driver 1: 19 year old male, Santa Ana – released at scene pending investigation

On Thursday, October 25th, 2018 at approximately 7:36 pm the Santa Ana Police Department received numerous calls of a pedestrian versus vehicle traffic collision in the 1800 block of S. Cedar Street. Our officers responded to the area and found the pedestrian to still be down in the roadway. Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) personnel responded and began to treat the pedestrian before he was transported by ambulance to the OC Global Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) is seeking the public’s help in identifying two men suspected of stabbing a 57-year-old woman, who was driving near College Avenue between Baker Street and Gisler Avenue, early this morning.

Today, Oct. 23, 2018, at about 4:00 a.m., the female victim was driving a dark-colored Toyota SUV along College Avenue, between Baker Street and Gisler Avenue, when she was confronted by two male adults in the street. They are described as two adult males wearing dark hoodies and jean pants. The victim momentarily stopped her SUV, at which time both suspects forcibly entered the SUV. Continue reading→

Advisory: SAPD Traffic Investigators Arrest Suspect in Fatal Hit & Run Traffic Collision

On Friday, October 19, 2018 at approximately 5:25 a.m., the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) received a call of a pedestrian lying in the roadway in the middle lane of S. Bristol Street south of Central Street. As the reporting party was speaking to SAPD Dispatch, the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle, described as gray or tan in color, was last seen headed north on Bristol.

SAPD Officers arrived at the scene to find the pedestrian, who was wearing dark clothing, non-responsive in the #1 northbound lane of Bristol. Orange County Fire Authority personnel arrived and pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene. Continue reading→
