For Immediate Release, Case # TBA: November 12, 2013

WHO: Ryan Anthony Kevorkian, 34, and Naomi Josette Kevorkian, 33

WHAT: Are scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow for their role in the kidnapping, torturing, and sexual mutilation of a marijuana dispensary owner whom they believed to be burying large amounts of cash in the desert. The defendants are each charged with two felony counts of kidnapping for ransom and one felony count each of aggravated mayhem, torture, and first degree residential burglary, with a sentencing enhancement for inflicting great bodily injury. If convicted, they each face a maximum sentence of life in state prison without the possibility of parole. Continue reading→

MAN DUBBED “SNOWBOARDER BANDIT” CONVICTED OF COMMITTING ROBBERIES IN 10 ORANGE COUNTY BANKS

SANTA ANA – A man dubbed the “Snowboarder Bandit” was convicted today of committing robberies in 10 Orange County banks. Michael Brandon Franks, 30, Riverside, pleaded guilty to a court offer today to 10 felony counts of second degree robbery and two felony counts of attempted second degree robbery. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years and six months in state prison at his sentencing, Jan. 17, 2014, at 8:30 a.m. in Department C-34, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. Continue reading→

MAN TO BE ARRAIGNED TODAY FOR FLEEING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT ON HALLOWEEN NIGHT LEADING TO DEATH OF HIS GIRLFRIEND AND ENDANGERING 13-MONTH-OLD GIRL

SANTA ANA – A man is scheduled to be arraigned today for fleeing the scene of an accident which led to the death of his girlfriend on Halloween night and endangering a 13-month-old girl. Francisco Javier Montano, 21, Irvine, is charged with one felony count of hit and run with permanent injury or death, one felony count of child abuse and endangerment, and one misdemeanor count of driving without a valid license. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of seven years in state prison and six months in jail. He is being held on $200,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. The time is to be determined.

At approximately 8:00 p.m. on Oct 31, 2013, Montano is accused of driving a Toyota RAV4 eastbound near 1600 West Edinger Avenue in Santa Ana with his 21-year-old girlfriend Gloria Sanchez and 13-month-old Jane Doe. Continue reading→

Santa Ana Police Department Advisory: Police Detectives arrest father for Attempted Murder of his infant child

On November 1, 2013, a two month old baby girl was admitted to a local hospital in critical condition. The infant was treated for head and skull injuries.

The investigation revealed that during the morning hours of November 1, Andres Tafoya, age 30, was left alone to watch the baby girl while the infant’s mother was at work. Tafoya is believed to have punched the infant multiple times to the head causing injury. Tafoya assisted in taking the baby girl to the hospital, but fled prior to police arrival. Continue reading→

Santa Ana Police Department Advisory: Update- Detective request public’s assistance -Suspicious Death/Homicide Investigation

Detectives advise that family members have contacted them based on media reports on this case. The victim in this case has been ID’ed as Gloria Sanchez (21) additionally the small child found with her was her 13 month old daughter ( no name released).

Additionally Friday night Fransico Montano’s (21) turned himself and his vehicle a Black Toyota Rav4 into the detectives at the Police Department. Montano is the victims boyfriend and father of the 13 month old child. Montano was uncooperative with Detectives at this time. Detectives booked Montano into Santa Ana Police Department Jail for CVC 20001(a) Felony Hit and Run for now pending further investigation. Bail was enhanced to 200k as Montano is considered a flight risk. Continue reading→
