SAPD Advisory: Man carrying two swords and yelling profanities on Harbor Blvd arrested
At approximately 2316 hours, officers were dispatched to 700 S. Harbor, for a male Asian carrying two swords and yelling profanities.
When officers arrived, they located Hung Anh Nguyen (29) in the parking lot of 751 S. Harbor. The subject was threatening officers and refused to comply with any commands.

THREE SEX PURCHASERS SENTENCED FOR SOLICITING SEX FROM WOMAN WHOM THEY BELIEVED TO BE A PROSTITUTE
SANTA ANA – Three sex purchasers were convicted and sentenced for soliciting sex from a woman whom they believed to be a prostitute. Omar Jesus Moreno, 35, and Ariel Castro, 42, both of Santa Ana, each pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of agreeing to engage in prostitution. Both defendants were sentenced to three years of informal probation, 10 days in jail with the possibility of CalTrans in lieu of jail, and must submit to AIDS testing and education. Continue reading→

HOMELESS MAN CONVICTED OF HOME BURGLARIES STARTING WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT OF SLEEPING 10-YEAR-OLD GIRL
SANTA ANA – A homeless man was convicted today of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl who was asleep in her home and a string of residential burglaries in Buena Park. Joel Solis Aguirre, 24, Fullerton, was found guilty by a jury of one felony count of residential burglary, one felony count each of assault with intent to commit a sexual offense during a residential burglary, lewd act upon a child under 14 years old, attempted kidnapping to commit a sexual offense, attempted kidnapping for child molesting and attempted residential burglary. The sentencing allegations and enhancements for having a non-accomplice present during three residential burglaries and committing a lewd act during the commission of a burglary were found true. On Aug. 21, 2013, the defendant pleaded guilty to two counts of residential burglary in this case. Aguirre faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration at his sentencing Nov. 8, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. in Department C-29, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. Judge Denies Voice of OC Request for Bustamante Records

A Superior Court judge on Tuesday denied Voice of OC’s request under the California Public Records Act for documents showing what top county officials knew when they allowed former executive Carlos Bustamante to quietly resign in October 2011, months before District Attorney Tony Rackauckas charged Bustamante with a dozen felony sex crimes against female employees.
In turning down the request, Judge David McEachen wrote that his civil court “has no power” to overturn a June 24 protective order issued by a criminal court hearing Bustamante’s case. Continue reading→
Advisory: SAPD investigating loud explosion at 1075 E. 17th Street
On Wednesday 9/4/13 at 08:59 a.m. Officers responded to the report of an explosion at Orchard Supply Hardware located at 1975 E. 17th Street.
According to witnesses, an explosion was heard near the exit doors to the store. Officers arrived and located what appeared to be remnants of an exploded pipe bomb near the exit doors.

A 26-year-old man was found unconscious next to a burning car in Santa Ana early Monday morning, according to CBS.
Santa Ana officers responded to the vehicle fire on the 200 block of North Daisy Avenue around 3 a.m. on Labor Day, Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. They found the fire, in a 2001 Nissan sedan, had been intentionally set. A man was lying next to the burning car with a wound to his head, according to the O.C. Register. Continue reading→

SANTA ANA – A Hawaii man was sentenced today to life in state prison without the possibility of parole plus an additional five years in state prison for murdering a strip club owner in 1987. Richard Curtis Morris, Jr., 59, formerly of Pearl City, HI, was found guilty by a jury April 30, 2013, of one felony count of special circumstances murder in the commission of robbery, murder in the commission of rape, and murder for financial gain.
