Advisory: SAPD Detectives Investigating Homicide – 800 Block South Flintridge Drive
Victim: Deceased- Male Hispanic (35) Victim name release pending family notification
On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at 1:18 PM, Santa Ana Police officers responded to reports of a shooting with a subject down at 800 Block South Flintridge Drive. Responding officers discovered a Hispanic adult male down on the sidewalk suffering apparent gunshot wounds to his upper torso.
Police officers began lifesaving measures and requested paramedics. Orange County Fire Authority paramedics responded to the scene, treated, and transported the shooting victim to a local trauma center. Attending physicians declared the victim deceased on at 1:57 PM. Continue reading
Vandalism Targeted at Buddhist Temples in Santa Ana Declared a Hate Crime by OC District Attorney

This past weekend a number of Buddhist temples in Santa Ana were vandalized, causing extensive damage to religious statues and other temple property. Law enforcement officials have footage of a suspect in the act of vandalizing and are asking for help from the community in locating the individual.
The targeting of Buddhist temples is cause of great concern for the Vietnamese-American Community in Orange County. Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas will be announcing that he will consider these criminal conducts as possible hate crime. If convicted, this will lead to greater punishments for the offender(s). Continue reading

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the recovery, alive or deceased, of Ruochen Liao, who co-owns a Costa Mesa luxury-car dealership and resides in Santa Ana.
On July 16, 2018, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Ruochen “Tony” Liao was kidnapped in San Gabriel, California, by three men. He was last seen entering a dark-colored minivan in San Gabriel with a man later identified as “David”. Continue reading

Armando Edgar Duran Cruz, a 38-year-old Santa Ana man, was sentenced Friday to only six years in prison for a DUI crash that killed another man and his 6-year-old nephew in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.
Cruz pleaded guilty April 30 to two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter and driving drunk causing injury, according to the OCDA.
Cruz got a light sentence as part of a plea bargain with Orange County Superior Court Judge Robert Fitzgerald. Continue reading

COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) arrested Gavin Christopherflo Delgardo, Jr., 19, Costa Mesa, yesterday for repeatedly stabbing a man, who was out for a walk, near Fairview Park.
On Aug. 16, 2018, at 8:54 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Placentia Avenue and Fairview Park regarding a male lying in the roadway of southbound Placentia Avenue. The man was bleeding profusely from numerous stab and slash wounds to his torso. He had been out for a walk and was assaulted by an unknown suspect. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, and he is now stable and recovering from his wounds. Continue reading

On Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 11:56 PM, police officers from the Santa Ana Police Department responded to reports of an unsanctioned outdoor party in the commercial area located in the cul-de-sac of 2000 South Eastwood Avenue. An unidentified parolee jumped through the window of Santa Ana’s Buccaneer Pizza today while he was fleeting from the Orange Police today, according to the O.C. Register.
Apparently Orange Police Officers spotted the suspect, who is in his 30’s and is known to have an outstanding arrest warrant, near the 2700 block of North Grand Ave. The man ran off and the police chased him through a shopping center. That chase ended with his leap through the window of Buccaneer Pizza. Continue reading

Advisory: UPDATE – SAPD Detectives Investigating Homicide – Victim Has Been Identified
Victim has been identified as Hugo Sanchez Jr. (34) Santa Ana
On Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at 1:47 AM, police officers from the Santa Ana Police Department responded to reports of a possible carjacking or kidnapping from the Shell gas station located at 1501 East Edinger Avenue. Responding officers located the victim vehicle, described as a late 90’s Ford pick-up truck, abandoned at the 1400 block of East Wilshire Avenue. Officers discovered a deceased adult male in the street near the vehicle. The male died of apparent gunshot wounds. Orange County Fire Authority paramedics assessed the victim and declared him deceased at scene. Continue reading
A man was killed early this morning, August 14, after two unknown men hopped into his truck while he was at the Shell station at Edinger and Grand Avenues, according to the SAPD.
The SAPD does not yet know if the suspects forced their way into the truck while the man was gassing it up at 2 a.m., or if they were invited in by the driver. Continue reading

SANTA ANA, CA (August 7, 2018) – Santa Ana Unified School District was notified, August 3, 2018 that Omar Rojas, a volleyball coach at Century High School and District Safety Officer at Sierra Preparatory Academy was arrested and booked for allegations of sexual misconduct with a former student of Century. These allegations are being taken seriously and are in direct conflict of the District’s zero-tolerance policy relating to staff misconduct, in which all district employees are held at the highest ethical standards. This includes reporting any suspicious activity involving abuse or neglect of a child directly to authorities, as mandated by law. Failure to do so is a criminal violation of the law. Synopsis: A 28-year-old volleyball coach at Century High School was arrested for having sex with several minor students. Omar Rojas is also currently employed as a District Safety Officer for the Santa Ana Unified School District. Santa Ana Unified School District Police contacted the Santa Ana Police Department to report allegations that Rojas had sexual intercourse with several students.
Santa Ana Police Department Special Crimes Section Detectives commenced the investigation and concluded that the incidents occurred in 2015. Rojas was not a District Safety Officer when these crimes were committed. On numerous occasions, Rojas would have the victims excused from class in order to meet them for the purposes of engaging in sexual activity on campus. The victims were 17-years-old at the time and no longer students at Century High School. Continue reading

By now you have heard that a lemur was stolen from the Santa Ana Zoo over the weekend. The good news is that it has since been recovered after it was dropped off at a Newport Beach hotel, according to the O.C. Register.
Apparently a group of suspects climbed over a wall on the Zoo’s perimeter then cut fences on two enclosures that contained a group of Capuchin monkeys and the lemur, according to the SAPD. Continue reading
