SANTA ANA, Calif. – A woman pleaded guilty and was sentenced today to three years in state prison for fatally hitting a pedestrian, fleeing the scene, committing insurance fraud, and falsely reporting the vehicle damage as vandalism to her insurance company and police.

The SAPD had their hands full on Friday night, Dec. 8, when they arrested Leoncio Gutierrez, a suspect thought to be on drugs who was driving on the wrong side of the road when he ran a red light and crashed into two cars – all while he was fleeing from the police, according to the O.C. Register.
The pursuit happened as the SAPD was responding to a commercial burglary on South Lyon St. A witness had reported seeing 80 suspects breaking into a building. Apparently there was a rave going on nearby. Continue reading
John Motesharrei, a 40-year-old Westminster man, pleaded guilty on his birthday Tuesday to a hit-and-run collision that killed Juan Ramirez Garcia, a 48-year-old Santa Ana man who was jogging in Fountain Valley, according to the O.C. Register.
Motesharrei pleaded guilty to hit and run with permanent injury, a felony, and hit and run with property damage, a misdemeanor. Continue reading

Advisory: Detectives Investigating Homicide 300 Block East 17th Street
Victim: Pending Notification – Male (36)
On Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at 1:41 AM, the Santa Ana Police Department received reports of a shooting and a man down in the parking lot of the 7-11 convenience store at 302 East 17th Street. Officers arrived and found a 36 year-old male suffering a gunshot wound to his upper body.
Orange County Fire Authority personnel arrived, treated, and transported the victim to a local trauma center for treatment. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 2:12 AM. Continue reading
Felix Martinez Vargas, a 20-year-old Santa Ana man, is facing a murder charge that was filed on Tuesday, in which he is accused of shooting Mariano Labra Ramos, a 36-year-old Santa Ana man, to death outside of his apartment complex last week, according to the O.C. Register.
Prosecutors are also tacking on a sentence-enhancement charge against Vargas because he is an alleged gangbanger who caused great bodily harm while vicariously discharging a firearm. Continue reading

Victim: Raul Rios (26) Santa Ana
On 12-3-17 at approximately 2:03 a.m. the Santa Ana Police Department received reports of a man down in the alley behind 923 S. Standard Avenue. Officers arrived and found a 25 year-old male victim of a gunshot wound. OCFA personnel arrived and transported the victim to a local trauma center for treatment.

Synopsis: On 05/21/2017, at 3:34 a.m. , a 25 year-old victim was walking northbound on Broadway Street where she was pulled down the stairwell to the Copper Door and was sexually assaulted. Israel Perez Rangel, 38, a Santa Ana man got caught begging for gas money for what turned out to be a stolen $265,000 Ferrari and he was finally arrested after a two-week joyride that trashed the stolen vehicle, according to the O.C. Register.
Rangel was being held in the Orange County jail on suspicion of vehicle theft and grand theft auto with prior convictions and vandalism causing damages of $10,000 or more. Continue reading
Armando Antunez, a 27-year old Santa Ana man on probation, was headed for trial but at the last minute he accepted a plea deal instead and was immediately sent to prison for 10 years after he ran away from the police, which led to a police shooting, according to the O.C. Register.
Antunez pleaded guilty to a count of possession of a firearm by a probationer, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm in school zones and participating in gang activity, all felonies. He also admitted sentencing enhancements for gang activity. Continue reading

An armed robber was captured on surveillance video when he robbed Valley Liquors, located at 2429 West Edinger, in Santa Ana, just after midnight on Wednesday morning, according to KTLA.
The SAPD and the Fullerton Police are trying to figure out if this suspect is also the man who robbed JJ’s Liquor, located at 2238 W. Orangethorpe Ave., in Fullerton, at around 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21, according to the O.C. Register. Continue reading
Aimee Guadalupe Lopez, 23-year-old woman, was charged Wednesday with molesting and sending illicit selfies to the 12-year-old son of a friend in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.
Lopez is now facing two counts of lewd acts with a minor younger than 14 and sending harmful matter to a minor with the intent to seduce, all felonies. Continue reading
