SANTA ANA, Calif. – Ten attorneys and six cappers were charged today for participating in a massive multi-million dollar workers’ compensation insurance referral scheme that exploited persons in predominantly Spanish-speaking communities. This is the first phase of filing resulting from a 3-year insurance fraud investigation by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) Bureau of Investigation, Insurance Fraud Unit with assistance from the California Department of Insurance (CDI). The brief break in reported shootings in Santa Ana appears to be over as two minors were wounded at about 12:45 a.m. this morning at the 1600 block of South Evergreen St., by Madison Park, according to the O.C. Register.
The victim included two males and a female, who were apparently walking along the street when a vehicle pulled up and an armed male suspect got out of it. He began to fire multiple shots at the victims. One male and the female were injured in their lower extremities with what were described as non-life threatening wounds. Five Santa Ana juveniles found out this afternoon that drinking too much alcohol can lead to passing out, as they were discovered unconscious by SAPD police officers at Logan Park at 1009 N. Custer Street, in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.
Fortunately the five juveniles were breathing when they were found. They were all taken to local hospitals. The SAPD did not reveal their names and likely will not do so as they are minors. Continue reading
Orange County Launches Campaign to Raise Awareness of Child Sex Trafficking and Exploitation
The commercial sexual exploitation of children is a national and statewide epidemic that deserves our highest attention. Today, the County of Orange, in partnership with the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), Association of California Cities-Orange County (ACCOC), Orange County Juvenile Court, Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force (OCHTTF), The Raise Foundation, and Vanguard University’s Global Center for Women & Justice launched a campaign to raise awareness of child sex trafficking and exploitation, highlighting the theme: “Be the One to Help Out: Sex Trafficking. It’s Not What You Think. Children are Victims, Too”. Orange County elected officials and community leaders gathered to promote the campaign’s goals of raising awareness of the risks and indicators of child sex trafficking and exploitation and ensuring that the community is aware of how to help potential victims. Advisory: Man arrested for robbery after pepper spraying victim before fleeing with stolen goods

COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) arrested Costa Mesa resident Matthew Chima Udechukwu, 18, yesterday after he met a stranger under the guise of purchasing goods but instead pepper spraying the victim in the face before fleeing with stolen property.
At about 12:15 p.m. on May 30, 2017, CMPD officers responded to a report of a robbery that had just taken place. The 18-year-old male victim was selling a pair of designer shoes that he had advertised on a resale app, and Udechukwu had met with the victim to purchase the shoes. After inspecting the shoes, it is suspected that Udechukwu pepper sprayed the victim in the face, incapacitating him, and fled on foot with the stolen shoes. Continue reading
Two men were attested by the SAPD on Monday afternoon, while the rest of us were enjoying the Memorial Day holiday, after they were pulled over and three guns were found in their car, according to the O.C. Register.
The police officers spotted the suspects, who were in a silver Nissan Sentra that was believed to have been carjacked last week, at about 4:30 p.m., at the 600 block of North Lacy St., near Garfield Elementary School, according to the SAPD. As is usually the case in these incidents the driver sped off when the police officers tried to pull them over. Continue reading

Have you noticed that violent crime in Santa Ana appears to have dropped since our last Police Chief, Carlos Rojas, left to become the new BART Police Chief, up in San Francisco/Oakland? Perhaps this is due to the fact that the SAPD has cracked down on any news about shootings – crimemapping.com no longer reports on ANY crimes committed in our city.
An inside source told me today that the home of Santa Ana Councilman David Benavides was shot at on Saturday night. But don’t look for this in the local newspaper. The SAPD has squelched the story. Continue reading

Advisory: Suspect In Assault Road Rage And Vandalism Case Now In Custody
UPDATE: Arrested: Corbalan Jorge Hernandez (57) Homeless
On 3/28/17 a suspect vandalized the interior of a Chevron gas station in 2100 block E. McFadden. The incident was captured on surveillance video and has gotten national media attention. Today at 1600 hours employees in 2700 block S. Fairview saw the suspect and recognized him from the video. Our officers responded and took him into custody without incident. The suspect has been booked into SAPD Jail for Felony Vandalism.

The Santa Ana Police Department will be conducting a DUI / Driver’s License checkpoint on Saturday May 27th, 2017. It will begin at 9:30 p.m. and is scheduled to conclude at 2:30 a.m.. It will be conducted in the area of 2400 W Fifth Street, in the City of Santa Ana.
The primary purpose of a DUI Checkpoint is to deter impaired driving, not to increase arrests. All too often, members of our community are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by impaired drivers. This DUI / Driver’s License checkpoint is an effort to reduce those tragedies, as well as ensuring drivers have a valid driver’s license. The DMV reports that unlicensed drivers are 4.9 times more likely to cause a fatal crash than a licensed driver. Continue reading
A suspect conducted an armed robbery on Wednesday, May 24, at approximately 11:30 a.m., at the Joghurt Frozen Yogurt Haus located at 17395 17th St.
During the robbery, the suspect demanded cash and was last seen walking away from the business. The suspect was caught on surveillance video. Continue reading

On 5/18/2017 Robbery Detectives release information to the media about two separate robberies that occurred in the City of Santa Ana on 5/17/2017. The first robbery occurred at the Motel 6 located at 1623 E. 1st Street, where the suspects jumped lobby desk brandishing a knife at the hotel clerk demanding the money in the cash register. The second robbery occurred approximately five minutes later at the 76 Gas Station located at 1502 E. Edinger. The second robbery was captured on video and released to the media. Continue reading

Suspect Description: Male Hispanic 45-55, 5’5”, Thin Build, short grey combed back hair
On March 28, 2017 at 6:25 p.m., SAPD police officers responded to the Chevron gas station on the 2100 of E. McFadden. The clerk called 911, regarding a man who had been loitering and harassing customers gassing up. She told the operator, she confronted the man, and asked him to leave. He followed her back into the store, where they got into a verbal confrontation. He then began throwing items from the store at her. He left as she called 911, but returned shortly and began causing major damage to the store and attempted to assault the clerk. The man then fled in his vehicle.
