SUSPECT: Jon Francis Farris M/W Age 57

On Wednesday April 26 2017, members of the Tustin Police Department arrested Jon Farris as a result of an investigation regarding the sexual abuse of individuals with special needs. Farris, a contract bus driver responsible for the transportation of special needs individuals, was arrested after allegations were brought to the attention of the Tustin Police Department. These allegations involved the sexual abuse of special needs individuals while Farris was working as a bus driver. Advisory: Detectives Requesting Assistance Identifying Metro PCS Robbery Suspect

Location: Metro PCS located at 2547 W. McFadden #A

Occurred 4/22/2017 at 7:45 p.m., the suspect described as a Male (White or Hispanic), 30-40 y/o, 5’5-5’7”, thin build, wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The suspect pulled the hood of the sweatshirt over his head in an attempt to conceal his identity. The suspect points a handgun at store employees and demanded money. Employees provide the suspect with an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency which he takes and flees the business in a westbound direction on McFadden from the business. Continue reading→

On 04/08/2017 at approximately 4:47 p.m., the above two suspects entered the JC Penny store, took merchandise, and fled the store without paying. Advisory: Detectives Arrest Suspect For Contacting 13 Year Old Minor On Facebook To Commit Lewd Acts

On 4/22/17, Santa Ana Police Detectives arrested German Martinez, 29, of Los Angeles, for PC 288.2(a) – Sending harmful matter to seduce a minor, and PC 288.3(a) – Communicating with a minor to commit lewd acts.

The case began when a 13-year-old victim was allowed to use Facebook by her parents. Shortly after the victim started using Facebook, German Martinez introduced himself by messaging the victim. The messages became highly inappropriate, soliciting sex from the victim. Martinez was well aware the victim was underage. Santa Ana Police Detectives took over communications, using the victim’s cell phone to communicate with Martinez. Continue reading→

Woman gets four years in prison for crashing a stolen car into an SAPD police car

Daisy Oropeza, a 22-year-old woman, pleaded guilty Friday, April 21, and was immediately sentenced to four years in prison for ramming a stolen sedan into a squad car during a police pursuit in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.

Oropeza must not have had much of a defense available as she ended up accepting a number of felony charges that included two counts of assault with a weapon on a peace officer and one count each of vandalism, theft with a prior felony conviction of stealing a vehicle and evading police. She also admitted to a misdemeanor count of driving without a valid license. Continue reading→

26 DOCTORS, PHARMACISTS, AND BUSINESS OWNERS CHARGED IN $40 MILLION KICKBACK SCHEME

*13,000 patients affected in statewide workers’ comp fraud

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. — Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones and Orange County District Attorney (OCDA) Tony Rackauckas announced a shutdown of a $40 million fraudulent medical billing and kickback operation with the filing of charges against more than two dozen doctors, pharmacists, and business owners.

Tanya Moreland King, 37, and her husband Christopher King, 38, both of Beverly Hills, own medical billing and medical management companies Monarch Medical Group, Inc, King Medical Management, Inc. and One Source Laboratories, Inc. The defendants are accused of masterminding a complex insurance fraud scheme of recruiting doctors and pharmacists to prescribe unnecessary treatment for workers’ compensation insurance patients. Santa Ana man arrested after he pretended to be kidnapped in order to extort cash from his mom

Robert Nunez, a 31-year-old man, was behind bars Tuesday, April 18, on suspicion of faking his own kidnapping and trying to extort $300 from his mother, according to the O.C. Register.

Nunez’s mother called the SAPD on Sunday, April 16, after she had received a text message saying he was dead. She had not heard from him in several days. Continue reading→

There was a drive-by shooting near Walker Elementary School this afternoon

On Tuesday, April 18 at about 4:30 p.m., at 600 S. Standard, in a residential neighborhood, SAPD police officers were dispatched to the area after reports of a shooting that had just occurred, according to SAPD Case # CI#: 17-10369.

Upon arrival the police officers located several shell casings at the scene. Based on witness information, a Hispanic male adult was walking northbound on the west sidewalk of 600 S. Standard as a vehicle, occupied by several subjects, approached driving southbound. A passenger from the vehicle fired several gun shots at the subject walking on the sidewalk. Continue reading→

After completing this story with the media detectives received numerous tips and information from the community identifying Daniel Fine (41) Santa Ana, as the suspect in this incident. Based on that information detectives were able to obtain a $25,000 warrant for Daniel Fines arrest. On 04/18/2017 detectives arrested Daniel Fine for his warrant after locating him at a sober living home in the city of Santa Ana.

Advisory: Detectives Investigating Homicide 600 Block East Chestnut Ave.

Victim: Identification Pending Notification

On April 15, 2017 at approximately 2:10 a.m. the Santa Ana Police Department received reports of a man down on the sidewalk at 621 E. Chestnut Avenue.

Officers arrived and found a 19 year-old male victim of a gunshot wound. Orange County Fire Authority personnel responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Homicide Detectives were called to the scene and determined the case to be gang-related. Continue reading→

Police were investigating how an unidentified man became injured, after he was found on a Santa Ana street at around 9:30 p.m. on Friday night at  15th and Bush streets, according to the O.C. Register.
