Last night at about 11:25 p.m. SAPD police officers were in the area of 800 N. Harbor Blvd. when they heard 6-8 gunshots fired immediately east of their location, per SAPD Case Number 16-24695.
The police officers responded to 800 N. Figueroa Street and located 8 .45 caliber casings in the street and on the sidewalk. They also located one live .38 caliber round. One vehicle was struck. No homes or people were struck. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time. Continue reading→
Police arrested an unknown man after chasing a stolen vehicle through the city on Saturday afternoon, according to the O.C. Register.
The Santa Ana Police Department received a call from the car’s owner at 3:53 p.m. today. The owner had spotted a suspect driving his stolen car near Fairview Street and Trask Avenue, according to the SAPD. Continue reading→
Another violent week in Santa Ana ended with a dead teen and another wounded teen, when they were shot by suspected gangbangers at the 400 block of South Birch Street on Friday night, according to the O.C. Register.
SAPD police officers responded to the scene, at about 9:30 p.m, when they received a call about shots fired. They found evidence of a shooting but at the time did not find the victims. Continue reading→
At about 7:30 PM last night, an unidentified victim was in a vehicle with some friends in the area of 1100 North English when three gang member suspects approached them. Two of the suspects opened the doors to the car and attempted to take the victim’s personal property, according to the SAPD’s Case Number 16-24510.
After a brief struggle, one of the suspects shot the victim. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the lower extremity. As the victim drove away the suspect(s) continued shooting at the vehicle. The victim was admitted into a local hospital in serious condition. Continue reading→

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A man was sentenced today to life in state prison without parole for forcibly raping a preteen girl resulting in pregnancy. Demetrio Rojas Perez, 40, Santa Ana, was found guilty by a jury on June 27, 2016, of four felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 and one felony count of forcible lewd acts on a child under 14. Sentencing enhancement allegations for inflicting bodily harm on a victim under 14 years of age and personally inflicting great bodily injury during the commission of the above offenses were found to be true. For the first time in an Orange County sexual assault case, Perez was sentenced to life in state prison without the possibility of parole, plus 60 years to life in state prison. Continue reading→
A police pursuit of a car reported stolen started this afternoon in Santa Ana and finally ended in Laguna Hills, according to the O.C. Register.
The incident began before 4 p.m. in Santa Ana when the driver of the suspected stolen SUV fled from the SAPD. The chase continued through the cities of Irvine and Tustin, and involved at times both the 5 and the 405 Freeways. Continue reading→

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A man was arraigned today on additional charges including money laundering and defrauding over $2.2 million from over 400 troubled homeowners through an illegal loan modification scheme. Kevin Frank Rasher, 44, Coto de Caza, was charged on July 15, 2016, with 52 felony counts of grand theft, one felony count of second degree burglary, and one felony count of aiding false or fraudulent return, with a sentencing enhancement for property damage or loss over $65,000. Rasher was additionally charged today in an amended complaint with 69 felony counts of money laundering, six felony counts of grand theft, and three felony counts of financial exploitation of an elder. Rasher also faces sentencing enhancements for money laundering in excess of $1 million, theft in excess of $1.3 million, and white collar crime taking in excess of $500,000. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 98 years in state prison. He is being held on $2 million bail and must prove the money is from a legal and legitimate source before posting bond. At about midnight last night, a 17 year-old boy was walking in the area of 1500 West Edinger when he was approached by a carload of gang members. The suspects yelled out their gang affiliation and then began to assault him, according to SAPD Case Number 16-24451.
One of the suspects stabbed the victim multiple times. The victim went to a local hospital to receive emergency care and is expected to survive. Continue reading→
Criminals Voting On Crime Reform

Do we really want tightly fought Orange County election races and propositions decided by criminals who have made serious transgressions against our society or deciding on what is the definition of a crime?
On August 28, 2016, the Orange County Register printed, Imprisoned felons could determine outcome of local elections that was authored by Senator Patricia Bates. Senator Bates lamented that, with little fanfare, AB 2466 went to the Governor’s desk for signature. The measure would allow convicted felons to vote while they are still in jail or still under post-release supervision. She reminded us of recent very close election results in Orange County, with the specter of undecided races, recounts and contested elections. Do the residents of the Santa Ana Unified School District, the City of Santa Ana and the First Supervisorial District want to allow criminals from all other cities and Districts, to be able to vote on Santa Ana school board, Santa Ana municipal issues and for the closely-contested Supervisor’s race, merely because their address is in the County Jail in Santa Ana? An unidentified man struck another man in the head with a beer bottle in a parking lot on the 2200 block of North Fairview Street last night at around 10:50 p.m., according to the OC Register.

Matthew Jacob Granados, 21, Santa Ana, is charged with one felony count of involuntary manslaughter by a lawful act in an unlawful manner with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a firearm. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 14 years in state prison. Miguel Umana, 30, an armed parole violator who uses the nickname “Little Stomper,” was arrested by the SAPD after leading the police on a crazed pursuit that injured three people when he crashed into a stage at the Fiestas Patrias event, on Friday night, according to the O.C. Register.
The police chase began when an SAPD police officer tried to pull Umana over at the 800 block of South Cypress Ave., at around 8:30 p.m. on Friday night. The police officer had identified Umana as a wanted parolee at large. Continue reading→
On Fiestas Patrias weekend, SAPD police officers responded to the gang-related shooting of a 15-year old male victim, last night at about 8:30 p.m., at the 700 block of West Third Street, in Santa Ana, according to SAPD Case #16-24027.

On September 7, 2016, the Santa Ana Police Department arrested Larry Montanez, 63, of Santa Ana, for the sexual assault of three child victims in violation of 288(a) of the California Penal Code. Each assault occurred at Anne’s Daycare, located in the 2100 block of South Cedar Street, Santa Ana.
The three victims were each under the age of 10 when the assaults began in 2013. The most recent assault occurred on September 6, 2016, to a 6-year-old victim. Continue reading→
