SAPD investigators have identified the type of vehicle that struck and killed a woman on 7/10

Advisory:UPDATE – Traffic Investigators have identified the type of vehicle used in fatal hit & run collision

Location: 3900 W. Hazard Ave.

Suspect #1: Male, Hispanic (NFD)

Vehicle: 2007-2011, Nissan, Armada, dark gray

Synopsis: On 07/10/16 at 12:19 AM, officers responded to a vehicle vs. multi pedestrian, hit and run collision on Hazard Ave. west of Harbor Blvd. Upon arrival, the officers located the victims lying in the street on Hazard Ave. Statements obtained indicated the three pedestrians were standing in the two way turn lane on Hazard Ave. when a dark colored SUV, driven by a male Hispanic, drove eastbound in the two way turn lane and struck the pedestrians. Two of the pedestrians sustained critical injuries from the collision and one died as a result of the collision. The driver failed to stop and continued eastbound on Hazard Ave. then southbound on Harbor Blvd. Continue reading→

SAPD Police Chief Rojas loses all support as he begins to censor his police officers

SAPD Police Chief Carlos Rojas has not only lost the war on crime in our city – he has also lost the support of his own police officers.

Rojas, who was hired by our City Council with zero executive experience (primarily because he is a Latino), inherited a police department that his predecessor, Chief Paul Walters, had built into one of the top police departments in the entire country. Walters, who is now Chief of Staff to Orange County Supervisor Lisa Bartlett, always worked well with his police officers. Continue reading→

Man shot near Lathrop Intermediate School on Monday night

While the Major League Baseball All Star game festivities were starting up in San Diego, a man was getting shot and seriously injured in Santa Ana, on Monday night, at around 7:15 p.m., according to the O.C. Register.

The victim, an unidentified man, was shot at least twice in his upper torso, at the intersection of Cypress and Old McFadden Avenues, according to the SAPD. Continue reading→

When is SAPD Police Chief Rojas going to do something about the increase in crime in our city?

Violent crime, particularly gang-related shootings, are up this year in Santa Ana by historic numbers, as most of our readers know. But the new reality in our city might be worse than you think:

  • As compared to 2011, shootings are up 300% in 2016
  • YTD we have alread tallied 16 homicides as compared to 14 all of last year
  • A mother has been missing for several months – a possible Domestic Violence murder
  • In 2011 the SAPD had 400 officers and currently the SAPD has only 306 police officers on staff

Hit and run driver allegedly killed a prostitute at Hazard and Harbor this morning

One of our readers has reported that a male hit and run driver in a dark SUV, plowed into three alleged prostitutes, killing one, at about 12:15 a.m. this morning. This happened on Hazard Street 1 block west of Harbor.

Paramedics put the deceased victim in an ambulance but they stayed at the scene. Apparently they were waiting to transfer the victim to the O.C. Coroner. Continue reading→

Subject : MAN SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR KILLING INNOCENT PEDESTRIAN AFTER CRASHING INTO HIM AND LEADING SAPD OFFICERS

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A man was sentenced to 15 years to life in state prison today for killing an innocent pedestrian after crashing into him at the conclusion of a high speed chase with officers from the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD). Victor Manuel Sanchez, 24, Santa Ana, pleaded guilty May 17, 2016, to one felony count of murder and one felony count of evading a peace officer while driving recklessly causing serious bodily injury and death with a sentencing enhancement for great bodily injury.

On May 30, 2013, Sanchez was driving a white Dodge Charger in a known criminal street gang area in Santa Ana with two associates. SAPD officers were patrolling the area in a marked police vehicle at the time. Continue reading→

Advisory: DETECTIVES MAKE ARREST IN SEXUAL ASSAULT SERIES

A series of sexual assaults occurred in Santa Ana involving the same male suspect and three self-admitted female prostitute victims. One attack took place in August 2015, and two additional crimes happened in January 2016. In each assault, the suspect posed as a police officer and lured the victims into his car. The suspect then drove the victims to secluded locations, where he forcefully raped two of them. The third victim had escaped before the rape occurred.

On June 2, 2016, the Santa Ana Police Department released information to the public regarding the sexual assaults. Santa Ana Police detectives asked people to come forward with any tips that might lead to the suspect’s identification. As a result of the news release, Joseph Raymond Stanton, 42, of Long Beach, was identified as a possible suspect. Continue reading→

Deceased – Anthony Ramirez (20) Santa Ana

On July 6, 2016 at approximately 10:06PM Santa Ana Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 2100 West Washington regarding shots fired and a subject down. When officers arrived, they found the victim, 20 year old Anthony Ramirez from Santa Ana, unconscious and unresponsive in the middle of the street. Ramirez was suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Orange County Fire Authority paramedics arrived on scene and pronounced Ramirez deceased. Continue reading→

Santa Ana man arrested after pretending to be an ICE agent and extorting a woman in Anaheim

Luis Flores-Mendoza of Santa Ana, a 26-year-old, was arrested after he pretended to be a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent and threatened to deport a woman if she didn’t give him money, according to the O.C. Register.

The victim, an unidentified woman, said that on June 6, the suspect went to a restaurant in Anaheim, where she worked. The suspect was dressed in a green uniform with a vest, gun, and a badge. He said that he was a Federal agent, according to the Placentia Police Department. Continue reading→

A man was shot to death at Washington Ave. and King St. on Wed. night

A man was shot at the intersection of Washington Ave. and King Street, in Santa Ana, on Wednesday night, just after 10 p.m., according to the O.C. Register.

When the police arrived they found the man had been injured with multiple gun shots. He was declared dead at the scene by OCFA paramedics. The police then closed down the adjacent streets while they investigated the murder. Continue reading→

Santa Ana woman gets a 16-year sentence after trying to kidnap her roomie’s baby

Calling the crime one of the most “stupid, crazy and asinine” he’s seen, a judge on Friday sentenced Gladys Remigio, a Santa Ana woman, to 16 years in prison for attempting to kidnap her roommate’s 2-week-old baby, according to the O.C. Register.

Remigio was 17 years old when she askeed two gangbangers to help her to kidnap her roommate’s newly born baby daughter back in November of 2011. Remigio and the two men, who were armed with a fake gun, did exactly that when they entered the home and ordered the baby’s mother into a bedroom, according to the OCDA. Continue reading→

TJ Maxx store in Santa Ana robbed at gunpoint at mid-day today

Robbers who target Santa Ana’s South Coast area are become ever more brazen. Today an armed man stole an unidentified amount of cash from a TJ Maxx store during a mid-day robbery, at 11:30 a.m., at the 3900 block of South Bristol St., according to the O.C. Register.

As is often the case the suspect had fled, in a vehicle, before the police officers arrived, according to the SAPD. Continue reading→

Advisory: SAPD Detectives Make Arrest of 17-Year Old Suspect In 6/27/2016 Homicide

Victim/Deceased: Jesus Leon (19) Santa Ana

On 6/27/16, at 11:13 pm, Santa Ana Police responded to 1000 Block of West 2nd Street, regarding an unknown trouble call. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, 19 year old Jesus Leon from Santa Ana, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Leon was unconscious and unresponsive. The Orange County Fire Authority arrived on scene and pronounced Leon deceased. Continue reading→
