There were 32 new crimes reported, by our friends at CrimeMapping, on Sunday, July 7, 2013.  These included eight Domestic Violence arrests; two Disturbing the Peace incidents; and one act of Disorderly Conduct.  Imagine how many more crimes we will have if Councilman David Benavides succeeds in keeping our bars open until 4 am, as we reported earlier today?

Woman gets life after whacking off her hubbie’s penis and disposing of it

A Garden Grove woman was sentenced to life in state prison with the possibility of parole for cutting off her husband’s penis and running it through a garbage disposal. Catherine Kieu, 50, was found guilty of torture and aggravated mayhem in April for the July 2011 attack, according to CBS News.

Kieu was convicted on April 29, 2013, of torturing a man, with whom she had a romantic relationship, by cutting off his penis after tying him to his bed following an argument. Catherine Kieu, 50, Garden Grove, was found guilty by a jury of one felony count of torture, one felony count of aggravated mayhem, and a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a knife. She faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison with the possibility of parole at her sentencing June 28, 2013, in Department C-30, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. Continue reading→

MAN SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS AND EIGHT MONTHS FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING, RAPING, AND ROBBING TWO WOMEN HE MET THROUGH PENNYSAVER ADS IN 1980S

SANTA ANA – A man was sentenced today to six years and eight months in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration for sexually assaulting, raping, and robbing two women whom he met through PennySaver advertisements for apartment rental and furniture sales in the 1980s. James Michael Camp, 59, Anaheim, pleaded guilty June 17, 2013, to two felony counts of rape by force or violence and one felony count of grand theft. Continue reading→

MAN FACES CHARGES FOR POSSESSING EXPLOSIVE DEVICE MATERIALS AND FIREWORKS AFTER CAUSING EXPLOSION IN HIS GARAGE

WESTMINSTER – A man was arrested today for possession of explosive device materials and illegal fireworks after he caused an explosion in his garage. Michael Livingston Parr, 49, Westminster, is charged with one felony count of possession for sale of a controlled substance, one felony count of possession of a controlled substance with a firearm, one felony count of possession of materials with intent to make an explosive, one felony count of possession of a zip gun, one misdemeanor count of possession of illegal fireworks, with a sentencing enhancement for possessing 28.5 grams or more of methamphetamine with intent to sell. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of six years and four months in state prison. The People will request Parr be held on $500,000 bail and he is expected to be arraigned tomorrow, Thursday, June 27, 2013, at the West Justice Center, Westminster. Santa Ana Police Department Advisory:

SAPD ARRESTS 20 MEN FOR ATTEMPTING TO PURCHASE SEX IN ANTI-SEX TRAFFICKING SWEEP

The Santa Ana Police Department arrested 20 men last night in an undercover sting operation targeting suspects attempting to purchase sex in an ongoing anti-sex trafficking enforcement action.

SAPD Vice Detectives in the area of Harbor Boulevard identified and arrested 20 males attempting to purchase sex or sex acts from undercover female officers, whom the suspects believed to be prostitutes. The suspects were cited and released and the 20 cases will be referred to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
