The City of Santa Ana shut down Sky High and another illegal pot dispensary today

Sky High Holistic, an infamous medical marijuana dispensary that sued the City of Santa Ana and got an award of $100K after SAPD police officers raided them back in 2015, was raided again today as Santa Ana Code Enforcement and police officers finally closed down the illegal business, according to the O.C. Register.

The lawsuit in 2015 was due to the fact that several SAPD police officers busted Sky High’s video equipment while eating their granola bars. They also threatened a disabled woman. Continue reading→

A car crashed into the second floor of a building in Santa Ana early this morning

Advisory: Officers Working Vehicle Into Building Collision 300 Block East 17th Street

SAPD police officers responded to a collision involving a single vehicle into a commercial business early this morning, at the 300 block of East 17th St.. Upon arrival the police officers observed an occupied white sedan that was partially wedged into the second floor of a dental office.

They determined the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, northbound on French approaching 17th. The driver continued northbound and struck the raised center median on 17th, which launched the vehicle into the air. The vehicle struck the 2nd floor of the building and remained lodged. A recent article on the homeless encampments in the Civic Center quotes Robert Cortez from the City Manager’s office:

A burglary suspect allegedly on drugs crashed while fleeing from the SAPD

The SAPD had their hands full on Friday night, Dec. 8, when they arrested Leoncio Gutierrez, a suspect thought to be on drugs who was driving on the wrong side of the road when he ran a red light and crashed into two cars – all while he was fleeing from the police, according to the O.C. Register.

The pursuit happened as the SAPD was responding to a commercial burglary on South Lyon St. A witness had reported seeing 80 suspects breaking into a building. Apparently there was a rave going on nearby. Continue reading→

Suspect shot by an SAPD police officer may have committed up to seven armed robberies

It turns out that the robbery suspect that was shot and wounded yesterday evening by an SAPD police officer, at a Chevron gas station, may be a suspect the police were already looking for in connection with at least seven armed robberies, according to the O.C. Register.

The suspect was shot when he tried to rob a Chevron gas station at Grand and N. Fairhaven avenues in Santa Ana on Thursday, Sept. 28, at round 5:40 p.m. Continue reading→

Advisory: Man who was out on bail arrested for possession of dangerous drugs for sale

Incident/DR#: 17-12257

COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) yesterday arrested Miller, who was out on bail, for felony possession of dangerous drugs with intent to sell.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., on Sept. 27, 2017, CMPD detectives served a search warrant at Miller’s home in the 400 block of Fair Drive. The search warrant is part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. Miller was detained outside his home and was found to be in possession of approximately three grams of fentanyl-based heroin, commonly referred to as “China White,” and about $1,000 in cash. Former gangbanger turned lawyer is suing the City of Santa Ana for shooting a suspect in the back

The family of an unarmed 18-year-old shot and killed while running from gang officers has hired Humberto Guizar, a former gangbanger turned lawyer, to represent them in a civil rights lawsuit against the city of Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.

Guizar won $3.2 million for the survivors of a Ramona Gardens man who died after an altercation with LAPD officers back in 2012, according to the L.A. Times.  Continue reading→

Community: Santa Ana City Council Takes Action against Illegal Marijuana Dispensaries

SANTA ANA, CA – At their last council meeting, the Santa Ana City Council authorized the filing and prosecution of receivership actions against the owners of four marijuana dispensaries operating illegally throughout the city. The Council’s action on September 5, 2017, escalates the City’s efforts to permanently shut down these dispensaries which pose extreme health and safety hazards to the community.

Receivership is a legal process through which control of a piece of real property is temporarily taken from the property owner and placed with a court-appointed office, or Receiver. These receivership actions are used primarily for abandoned and substandard properties where the owner has a history of non-compliance with the City’s code enforcement efforts, or for emergency situations where real property presents an immediate threat to health and safety. A Santa Ana man was arrested after a five-hour standoff with the SAPD on Monday

An unidentified man suspected of burglary and outstanding warrants barricaded himself in an apartment for five hours on Monday before officers went into his home to get him out, according to the O.C. Register.

The incident began at about 1:30 p.m. at the 1900 block of Civic Center Drive, when police and probation officials went to the man’s apartment to serve him with a warrant regarding weapons and narcotics probation violations, according to the SAPD. Continue reading→

SAPD detective David Prewett cleared in the fatal shooting of Steve Salgado

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office has cleared Detective David Prewett, an SAPD police officer who shot and killed Steve Salgado, an unarmed 18-year-old, who was running from members of the Santa Ana Police Department’s Gang Suppression Unit, according to the O.C. Register.

The incident happened on Jan. 29, at around 4:40 p.m., at the 400 block of South Birch St., in Santa Ana, when Prewett and five other SAPD police officers were patrolling the neighborhood when the saw an occupied vehicle parked in the middle of an alley, effectively blocking street traffic.
