News Release: Santa Ana High School Students is 1 in 55 Students in the World to Earn Perfect Score on AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam

(February 10, 2016) – Santa Ana Unified School District celebrates Noeli Zarate, a senior at Santa Ana High School, for earning a perfect score on the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam in May 2015. This distinction is so superior that it falls into a select category in which Noeli is 1 in 55 students in the world to earn every point possible during this testing period. Furthermore, out of approximately 4.5 million AP Exams taken by 2.5 million U.S. public high schools in 2015, she is 1 in 322 students to earn every point possible, a rare accomplishment. Career College of California’s CEO speaks out about why they shut their doors

We reported on Jan. 28 that Career College of California, which was located in DTSA, closed down. For whatever reason the mainstream media has completely ignored this story. And Career College has not issued a formal press release explaining why they shut their doors.

However Career College’s CEO, Caleb Everett, contacted me yesterday with more information about what they have done to help their students to move on to other schools.

Career College has posted an their website that they closed down because “their expenses were greater than their revenues.” Apparently they lost their funding as well and could not continue to stay in business. Continue reading→

Career College of California in Santa Ana closed down today

The Career College of California (CCC), located in Santa Ana, shuttered their doors today. No explanation has been offered but several of their students contacted us today with the bad news. We also heard from a career advisor at CCC, who confirmed the closure.

The Santa Ana Unified School District invites parents and community members interested in learning about the unique opportunities and programs available to students in the district to the “We are SAUSD School Fair.”

This event will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. in downtown Santa Ana on 4th Street near French and Bush. There will be entertainment, giveaways, food, and information related to Santa Ana Unified School District schools. Choose the best…chose SAUSD.

The Discovery Cube announces a partnership with PFMG Solar to help O.C. teachers

Discovery Cube Announces Partnership with PFMG Solar Who Will Provide $500,000 in Funding for Next Generation Science Standards to Orange County Teachers

SANTA ANA, CA – January 6, 2016 – Discovery Cube and PFMG Solar today announced a partnership to assist Orange County school districts in meeting the coming requirements of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). PFMG Solar has pledged a $500,000 teacher training fund to help school districts meet the Next Generation Science Standards using Discovery Cube’s professional development workshops.

All teachers in California must meet the new NGSS requirement in 2016. Discovery Cube currently offers teacher professional development programs that explore the methodologies and strategies associated with teaching NGSS. PFMG Solar has pledged to help offset the cost of these professional development workshops for Orange County school districts who implement a solar energy program with PFMG. Continue reading→

The news that union organizers with the Orange County Labor Federation are working to deliberately misinform parents about the truth regarding California’s Parent Trigger law should come as no surprise. Those who support the concept of school choice and the supposedly “radical” idea that every California child deserves the best education we can give them have been fighting entrenched union interests since Governor Schwarzenegger signed the Open Enrollment Act into law.

The Open Enrollment Act was a cornerstone of President Obama’s ambitious “Race to the Top” education reform effort that swept the nation nearly eight years ago. The President’s goals for reforming our public education system, which former Senator Gloria Romero and I supported, was the implementation of educational policies like performance-based evaluations for teachers and principals, support for charter schools and turning low-performance schools into education powerhouses. BOXER PRAISES FINAL PASSAGE OF EDUCATION BILL STRENGTHENING AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS

Legislation Modernizes and Protects Funding for Afterschool Programs that Benefit More Than 1 Million Children Each Year

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), the chair of the Senate Afterschool Caucus, today praised the final passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which included provisions to modernize afterschool programs nationwide and protects federal investments that help more than 1 million children attend these programs each year. The measure now goes to President Obama for his signature.

The Hope Alive Perfect Harmony Concert is set for November 15, 2015, at 6 pm, at the Bill Medley Auditorium, located at Santa Ana High School, at 520 W. Walnut St., in Santa Ana.

This event supports keeping music in the schools by raising funds for music education in Santa Ana. This benefit concert brings the diversity of our community together for an evening of music exploration around the globe as world-class musicians are paired with aspiring youth artists from diverse backgrounds.

Music students from Willard Intermediate, Santa High School, and the surrounding community will have the rare opportunity to perform on stage in a symphony led and directed by local conductors Ammy Beltran, Reggie Goodjoin, Lesa Terry, Joseph Kaye and Victor De Los Santos. This eclectic mix of conductors and music instructors with varying styles and backgrounds expose the youth artists to a variety of musical genres and cultures that they do not learn in their regular school music programs. Jobs®, STEM Jobs SM and Military Spouse. The Military Friendly® Schools designation provides service members and their families with transparent, data driven ratings about post‐military education and career opportunities.

Institutions competed for the elite Military Friendly® School title by completing a survey of over 100 questions covering ten categories, including military support on campus, graduation and employment outcomes, and military spouse policies. Survey responses were scored against benchmarks across these key indicators of success.
