Martin Alonso Cea, a 33-year-old drunk homeless man, was arrested on Monday night after lighting vegetation on fire inside Santiago Park, according to the O.C. Register.
Cea, 33, was seen by two people around 8:10 p.m. inside the park at 2535 N. Main St. just before he intentionally started a brush fire near the creek bed, according to the SAPD. Continue reading→

A woman set a small fire inside the Walmart in Santa Ana back on Oct. 4, of last year, at about 6 pm., according to the O.C. Register.

The 96-foot Christmas tree worth $120,000 was destroyed Monday morning in a fire outside the Westin South Coast Plaza hotel, according to the O.C. Register.
Firefighters got a call at 6:34 a.m. that the tree, a 96-foot white fir from Mt. Shasta, was burning, Costa Mesa fire spokesman Capt. Chris Coates said, according to the L.A. Times. Continue reading→
A 3 Alarm fire broke out today at the 2500 block of S. Susan St. at 10:15 a.m. according to the OC Fire Authority.
Over 85 firefighters from the OC Fire Authority and the Fountain Valley and Costa Mesa Fire Departments fought the blaze and the OCFA Hazmat team was there too. No injuries were reported. Continue reading→
It took fifty five firefighters from the O.C. Fire Authority and the Garden Grove, Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley Fire Departments forty minutes to put out a fire today at Aluminum Precision Products, an aluminum manufacturing business located at the 2600 block of South Susan Street in Santa Ana, according to the OCFA’s Twitter page.
They were called in today at 2 p.m. after a fire was caused by an equipment failure near a forging press machine, according to the O.C. Register. Apparently the machine caught fire and the blaze spread very quickly to the roof, where a sprinkler system was activated. Reportedly an oily residue kept igniting the fire on the ceiling according to the OCFA. Continue reading→
A Santa Ana man, Victor Saul Arredondo, was taken into custody on Wednesday for allegedly starting a fire in his home, a single-story duplex in the 1000 block of 2nd Street, according to the O.C. Register.
The OCFA firefighters showed up at 6:20 p.m. and were able to extinguish a small fire in the house. They determined that the fire began in the back of the house, where there were apparently no smoke alarms.
There were seven residents in total including six adults and one child. They were all in the house at the time of the fire but Arredondo was the only one who was in the back of the house, where the fire started. Continue reading→
O.C. firefighters responded to a fire at a single-story house at the 800 block of N. Bristol Street, Santa Ana, today at around 5 a.m., according to the O.C. Register.
The fire was reported by a passerby who saw that the back of the house had fire coming out of it. He called 911 – and may have helped to save the lives of the seven adults and two children who ended up displaced by the fire. Continue reading→

A balcony fire broke out on the second floor of an apartment complex in Santa Ana today, at about 4 pm, at the 3100 block of South Main Street, just south of Dyer, according to the O.C. Register.

The Santa Ana warehouse of the Red Hill Construction company, located at 1431 E St Andrew Place., caught fire on Thursday morning after rags soaked in a wood-staining chemical spontaneously combusted overnight, according to the O.C. Register.
Thirty Orange County Fire Authority firefighters arrived at the scene at 7:11 a.m., and extinguished the fire. The fire caused $150K damage to the building and $200K damage to its contents. Continue reading→
Mike’s Automotive was badly damaged in a fire on Friday night at around 9:15 pm, according to the O.C. Register.
The Orange County Fire Authority Tweeted that they were able to knock down the fire with 27 firefighters, after the first alarm.

A fire broke out this afternoon at the log cabin located at Santiago Park. The cabin was not occupied at the time. Santiago Park is located off of Memory Lane and Main St., just north of the 5 Freeway, in north Santa Ana. The Orange County Fire Authority has not yet reported about the fire on their Twitter feed or their Facebook page.
My son saw several fire trucks and police cars at the park and the fire was also reported on the Park Santiago Neighborhood Association’s Facebook page. They also reported that the fire was started by embers from a nearby bush/tree fire. Continue reading→

A explosion at the Exxon-Mobil refinery in Torrance has caused smoke and ash in surrounding areas. At this time the impacts are local.
In any area impacted by smoke: Everyone should avoid any vigorous outdoor or indoor exertion; people with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly, and children should remain indoors. Keep windows and doors closed or seek alternate shelter. Run your air conditioner if you have one. Keep the fresh air intake closed and the filter clean to prevent bringing additional smoke inside.
