Fountain Valley man suspected in several armed robberies of 7-Eleven stores finally arrested

Jose Angel Gutierrez, a 42-year-old man suspected of multiple 7-Eleven armed robberies since September was caught on Tuesday, just hours after his latest heist, according to the O.C. Register.

Gutierrez had already been identified by the Garden Grove Police Department as a suspect when he walked in to a 7-Eleven at the 11000 block of S. Brookhurst Street at 4:05 a.m. and brandished a gun so he could steal cash and cigarette cartons, according to the Garden Grove Police Department.

Police detectives from Garden Grove and Santa Ana tried to search a warrant at his home, but Gutierrez was not there. They did however find his stash of “tools” – a sawed-off shotgun, handguns, illegal drugs and a mask worn in other robberies. Continue reading→

THREE DEFENDANTS CHARGED WITH ESCAPING FROM ORANGE COUNTY JAIL

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Three previously charged defendants were charged today for escaping from Orange County Jail. Bac Tien Duong, 43, Hossein Nayeri, 37, Newport Beach, and Jonathan Tieu, 20, Fountain Valley, are each charged with one felony count of escape from pending felony charges. Duong faces also faces sentencing enhancements for a prior strike conviction for first degree burglary in 1995 in San Diego County, prior prison convictions for second degree burglary in 2007, reckless evading of a peace officer in 2008, and possession for sale of a controlled substance in 2011.

If convicted, Nayeri and Tieu face a maximum sentence of three years in state prison for this case. Duong faces a maximum sentence of nine years in state prison for this case. Continue reading→

Police pursue suspect who fired at them from Santa Ana to Fountain Valley

A police pursuit started tonight in Santa Ana at around 9:45 p.m., according to CBS. Apparently the suspect was wanted for a traffic stop but he fired a weapon at the officers. One of our readers reported hearing two gun shots. CBS reported that no one was injured by the bullets.

Our readers reported that the chase was at one time at 5th and Euclid and also affected Newhope St., McFadden, Harbor, Euclid. Reportedly two to three helicopters were involved as well as up to 12 police cars.

Police officials said they put down a spike strip that ended up disabling the suspect’s vehicle’s right rear tire. The strip appeared to have worked as witnesses observed sparks coming from the tire. Continue reading→

MAN CHARGED WITH ILLEGALLY REIMBURSING CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTORS OVER $13,000 TO BE ARRAIGNED

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) has charged a man with illegally reimbursing contributors for Janet Nguyen’s 2012 Orange County Board of Supervisors election campaign. Son Truong Nguyen, 38, Fountain Valley, is charged with 10 misdemeanor counts of unlawful contribution. If convicted on all counts, the defendant faces a maximum sentence of one year in Orange County jail and a $10,000 fine. Charges were filed Oct. 28, 2015, and an arraignment letter was sent out yesterday for Son Nguyen to appear in court on Nov. 24, 2015, at 8:30 a.m. in Department C-54, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.

Between Nov. 2, 2011, and Jan. 30, 2012, Son Nguyen is accused of illegally reimbursing campaign contributors for Janet Nguyen’s 2012 Orange County Board of Supervisors election on 10 different occasions. He is accused of reimbursing a total of $13,300. Continue reading→

Two Santa Ana men arrested for burglary and grand theft in Fountain Valley

On October 26, 2015 at approximately 5:22 am, Fountain Valley Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Mt. Gustin Street and Berg River Circle (which is just west of Centennial Park) in reference to a vehicle burglary in progress by two male suspects.

When Officers arrived on scene, they located one male subject running away from the area. Officers stopped the subject and identified him as Daniel Vasquez, 5/10/96, of Santa Ana. Continue reading→

Two men wounded as robbers open fire near Los Amigos H.S. in Fountain Valley

On Oct. 15, 2015, at approximately 12:40 a.m., Fountain Valley police officers responded to the 16300 block of Everest Circle, in Fountain Valley (just west of Santa Ana’s Centennial Park and just northeast from Los Amigos High School) regarding a call about fireworks or gunshots in the area. The officers searched the area but it was quiet when they arrived and no evidence of a crime was located.

Approximately forty minutes later the Fountain Valley Police Dispatcher received a call from a local hospital that two gunshot victims had arrived at their emergency room. Continue reading→

Man leads police on high speed chase through three cities then crashes in Garden Grove

What a way to start the week! A man who is suspected of assault with a deadly weapon was reported to be inside of a stolen car at 6:30 a.m. near Bristol Street and Edinger in Santa Ana, but when the SAPD showed up he took off, according to the O.C. Register.

The SAPD reported that the man was driving a green Honda Accord that was also involved in a felony assault with a deadly weapon incident. No further details about the auto theft were made available by the SAPD.

The police pursued the suspect at speeds of up to 90 mph, driving through the cities of Santa Ana, Fountain Valley and Garden Grove. Continue reading→

Santa Ana woman arrested by the Fountain Valley police on suspicion of burglary

Fountain Valley Police arrested a 25-year-old Santa Ana woman, Vanessa Montes, on Saturday, on suspicion of home burglary, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the O.C. Register.

Montes has been booked into the Orange County Jail in Santa Ana and is being held without without bail.

Two Fountain Valley homes near Mount Hope Street and Warner Avenue were burglarized between 1:30 and 6:30 a.m. on Saturday while the residents were asleep. Continue reading→
