We reported last night about a drive by shooting that wounded a man in his 20s at the 1000 block of North Parton. Our readers indicated that there was a second man injured as well. Today we know the details about that second victim.
It turns out the second man was shot by an SAPD police officer, according to the O.C. Register. The police have not indicated yet if the second shooting was related to the first one. Continue reading→
A man in his early 20s was shot in the upper body tonight at around 7:20 p.m. at the 1000 block of North Parton St., according to the O.C. Register.
Igmar Rodas, a local community activist and photographer, told us that this was a drive-by shooting. He also reported that two suspects are in custody. Witnesses he spoke to said that there was a second victim that was seen laying on the street.
The SAPD did not report any details. SAPD police officers were only told that people had heard shots in their neighborhood. Continue reading→
It was another bloody week in Santa Ana with 31 crimes involving weapons, from January 11 to January 15, 2016, according to CrimeMapping. Nine of these crimes involved “Assaults with a Deadly Weapon” and six were “Disturbing the Peace/Fight” incidents involving weapons.

Peter Ojeda, the head of an Orange County wing of the Mexican Mafia, and his former girlfriend, Suzie Rodriguez, have been convicted of racketeering, conspiracy to commit murder and assault with serious bodily injury, as well as extortion and narcotics trafficking, by a federal jury in Santa Ana, after two days of deliberations, according to the Sacramento Bee.
Both Ojeda and Rodriguez are facing life sentences. Rodriguez was out on bond but will be returned to jail. Ojeda, who is 73-years-old, was due to be released from a 14-year federal prison term for racketeering in 2016 or 2017, with good behavior, according to ABC News. He will never be free again. Did you know that there are about 1,200 adults on probation in Santa Ana? They are supervised by only 17 deputy probation officers and two supervising probation officers, according to the Orange County Probation Department.
In an attempt to stem the gang war that has blown up in Santa Ana since New Year’s Eve, the SAPD checked 25 probationers on Tuesday, each a registered gang member with a history of firearms, according to the OC Register.
All of that work amounted to four arrests, including the arrest of man on probation for kidnapping and carjacking, as well as a hit-and-run suspect with an outstanding warrant. Continue reading→

Friday was another bloody day in Santa Ana as yet another shooting took place. This time a man in his 20’s was shot in the face, at the 3300 block of South Bristol St., according to the O.C. Register.
The victim was found at South Bristol St. and and West MacArthur Blvd. He ended up at a local hospital, in serious condition.
The police were not able to find any witnesses to the shooting but several people heard a gunshot and three males were seen running into a light-colored truck and speeding away going north on Bristol. Continue reading→
The SAPD is finally acknowledging the increase in shootings, mostly gang-related, in Santa Ana since New Year’s Day. There have been 16 shootings since Jan. 1, according to the O.C. Register. Fortunately only one shooting has proved fatal.
There were two new shootings in the past day. One took place at around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday as two men were arguing outside a home at the 1300 block of West 3rd, near Lydia Romero-Cruz Elementary School, according to a witness who spoke to the police. Continue reading→
One of our readers has reported a shooting today, just after 1 p.m., at Broadway and Pine in Santa Ana. That area is just east of Santa Ana High School. There are several SAPD units there apparently looking for suspects as seen in the picture below.
Another shooting was reported late last night at McFadden and Standard, just west of Kennedy Elementary School. A truck was reportedly hit by the bullets. The media did not report that shooting or the one today at Broadway and Pine.

Yet another gang shooting took place very early this morning, at around 12:30 a.m., at the 3400 block of West Chestnut Ave., in Santa Ana, just west of Santa Anita Park. The good news is that the SAPD have arrested two known gang members in the wake of the shooting, according to the O.C. Register.
The SAPD was assisted by the O.C. Sheriff’s helicopter, “Duke” and it was Duke’s crew that spotted a suspect, who was later identified as Jesse Garcia Isais, 41-years-old, as he was walking away from the area of South Jackson Street and Pine Ave., one block away from the shooting at the Chestnut Ave. address. In case you were wondering why the SAPD closed the eastbound lanes of West McFadden Ave., from South Fairview to South Sullivan Streets, late this afternoon, it was because of yet another gang-related shooting.
SAPD police officers were called to the 2600 block of West McFadden Ave., just west of Jerome Park, at 4:35 p.m., where they came across a man who had a gunshot wound in his upper body, according to the O.C. Register.

The SAPD arrested two robbery suspects on Monday, a few hours after a gang-related attack in which a pedestrian was struck by a car that appeared similar to the one used in the robbery, according to the O.C. Register.
SAPD police officers got a call at 6:30 p.m., on Monday, regarding some teenagers who were robbed of their money and their skateboards while they were at Centennial Regional Park, which has a skate park, located at 3000 W. Phung Dinh Le of Garden Grove, a 19-year-old man, has died after being shot in the head in what the SAPD is terming a gang-related attack early on Sunday morning, at 2 a.m., at the 2800 block of West Edinger, near Centennial Regional Park, according to the O.C. Register.
