SIX PARENTS ARRESTED ON CRIMINAL CHARGES FOR PUTTING SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN AT RISK BY ALLOWING CHRONIC TRUANCY DESPITE SCHOOL AND LAW ENFORCEMENT WARNINGS

SANTA ANA – Law enforcement arrested six parents today for allowing their children to be chronically truant despite repeated warnings from the schools and police. California law requires school-aged children to be enrolled in and attend school and failure to comply with the law can result in juvenile court proceedings for the child or criminal prosecution of the parent(s). The defendants in this case are each charged with one misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one misdemeanor count of failure to reasonably supervise or encourage school attendance. If convicted, each defendant faces a sentence ranging from probation up to one year in jail and $2,500 in fines. The defendants’ arraignment dates are to be determined. Continue reading→

On 03/07/13 and 03/08/13, The Santa Ana Police Department graduated over 100 Santa Ana parents from the Santa Ana Police Parent Academy. The Parent Academy is a comprehensive (5) WEEK/ 10 hour class, which exposes participants to parenting skills, narcotic awareness, child abuse, domestic violence and gang awareness. The classes are taught by subject matter experts to willing parents, who are eager to learn as much as they can about one of the most important topics of all; “parenting.” Continue reading→

Santa Ana Police Department Advisory: Gang Related Homicide Arrests Homicide occured February 14, 2013 at about 5:18 p.m in the 1900 blk of west 3rd St.

On Thursday, February 14, 2013 at about 5:18 p.m., Santa Ana Police Officers responded to the report of a shooting that had just occurred in the south alley of 1900 W. 3rd St. The arriving officers discovered two males, each suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment where 19-year-old Joseph Castro was pronounced dead several hours later. The second victim is recovering from gunshot wounds. The SAPD will buy guns back anonymously on 2/23 at the Santa Ana Bowl

The Santa Ana Police Department has announced the City of Santa Ana’s First Ever Anonymous Gun Buy Back Program, which will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, from 9 am to 2 pm, at the Santa Ana Bowl, located at 602 N. Flower St., in Santa Ana.

Residents of Santa Ana will receive a $100 gift card for handguns, shotguns and rifles, and a $200 gift card for assault weapons. Undetermined is whether or not criminals and gang members will be motivated to turn in their guns. Continue reading→

Not only was Santa Ana Council Member Michele Martinez the driving force behind the ouster of Santa Ana City Manager Paul Walters – my sources are now telling me that she has apparently turned on the Santa Ana Police Department.

I am hearing that Martinez is trying to get rid of the SAPD Strike Force – the heroic police officers who helped stem the tide against gang violence and drug dealing in our city. She blames them, I am told, for the arrest of her half brother, a few years ago, during her failed campaign for Mayor. She blames Walters for that arrest too, I am told. Continue reading→

Santa Ana Police Department Advisory: Update on Murder Investigation 2/14/13 1900 Block West 3rd Street

On 02/14/13, at 1718 hours officers responded to the 1900block of W. 3rd St. on a report of a shooting with two subjects down. Upon arrival, they found two males, ages 18 and 19, with gunshot wounds to their upper body. Paramedics transported the both victims to a local hospital where the 19-year-old was pronounced dead. 100 STUDENTS INVITED FOR AN INSIDE LOOK AT FORD REGIONAL HEADQUARTERS FOR GANG PREVENTION INCENTIVE

ORANGE COUNTY – Ford Motor Company (Ford) has invited 100 elementary and middle school at-risk students to visit the Ford facilities as an incentive for positive behavior, perfect attendance, and staying out of gangs. To earn this reward, the students met a challenge to have no unexcused absences, criminal activity or arrests, violence or weapons on campus, and no gang-related clothing, writing, or behavior.

During the visit to the Ford Irvine headquarters, the students will spend time with Ford’s design team learning about the studio design process, including the Ford Shelby GR1, the Lincoln MKR and the Ford START, three futuristic concept cars. Continue reading→

Cops allegedly made anti Mexican statements as they arrested a 17 year old

By now you have read about the ruckus in Santa Ana yesterday when there was a “after a confrontation between a large crowd and police officers Wednesday evening, in the area of West Camille Street,” according to the O.C. Register.

Shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday, an Orange County Fire Authority crew responding to a medical call in the 3300 block of West Camille Street requested police assistance, telling dispatchers that two men were harassing them while they were trying to attend to a patient, Cmdr. Steve Colon said. As a result, three men and a juvenile were arrested, said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

But hold the presses. The community is fighting back. Apparently the 17 year old who was arrested, Sergio Galan, is a 4.0 student who speaks English quite well. But the cops who beat him up and arrested him did not know that as they allegedly made anti-Mexican statements. Continue reading→

Santa Ana Police Department Advisory: GANG MEMBER CHARGED WITH ATTACKING YOUNG BOY ON HIS WAY TO SOCCER PRACTICE ON SANTA ANA PARK TRAIL

SANTA ANA – A gang member has been charged with attacking a 10-year-old boy who was on his way to soccer practice by grabbing him on a park trail and smelling the victim’s arm. Victor Joseph Espinoza, 55, Santa Ana, has been charged with one felony count each of false imprisonment and street terrorism with sentencing enhancements for committing a crime for the benefit of a criminal street gang and a prior strike conviction for street terrorism in 2007. If convicted, Espinoza faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. The People will be requesting that the defendant be held on $250,000 bail at his arraignment today, Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. GANG MEMBER SENTENCED TO 40 YEARS TO LIFE FOR SHOOTING-MURDER OF INNOCENT RESTAURANT PATRON IN SANTA ANA

SANTA ANA – A gang member was sentenced today to 40 years to life in state prison for the unprovoked shooting-murder of an innocent man outside of a restaurant in Santa Ana. Ricardo Guerra Rocha, 19, Santa Ana, who was 17 years old at the time of the crime and charged as an adult, was found guilty by a jury June 27, 2012, of one felony count of murder, one felony count of street terrorism, and sentencing enhancements for the vicarious discharge of a firearm causing death by a gang member and criminal street gang activity. Santa Ana Police Department Advisory: Santa Ana Police Investigate Early Morning Homicide

On Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at approximately 0127 hrs., patrol officers
responded to the apartment complex located at 502 E. Pine St. on a call involving shots fired and a wounded male. Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified male suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. The incident occurred in the underground parking lot of the complex.

14-YEAR-OLD GANG MEMBER CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER FOR SHOOTING A 16-YEAR-OLD BOY IN THE CHEST

SANTA ANA – A 14-year-old gang member was charged today with attempted murder for shooting and causing great bodily injury to a 16-year-old boy outside Santa Ana High School. Oswaldo Sotello, 14, Santa Ana, is being charged as an adult with one felony count of attempted murder and one felony count of street terrorism with sentencing enhancements for the personal discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury and criminal street gang activity. If convicted, Sotello faces a maximum sentence of 40 years to life in state prison and is being held on $1 million bail. Sotello is scheduled for a continued arraignment hearing on May 25, 2012, at 8:30 a.m. in Department C-55, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. Continue reading→

Upon arrival officers found a 21-year-old male victim, identification withheld pending next of kin notification, suffering from a gunshot wound.
