Advisory: Detectives Arrest Suspect For Sexually Molesting Developmentally Delayed Minor – Believe There May Be Additional Victims

Arrested: Francisco Ramirez (75) Santa Ana

Francisco Ramirez (75-years-old) was arrested for sexually molesting a 10-year-old developmentally delayed girl on multiple occasions. Ramirez was a volunteer at the Southwest Senior Center at Jerome Park. The incidents occurred during the month of July at the senior center garden. Continue reading→

The OC Health Care Agency has released a list of the eateries (including restaurants, caterers and even school kitchens) that they inspected and shut down for the week of June 22, 2018 – June 29, 2018. Most of these eateries reopen pretty quickly after the health inspectors determine their issues have been resolved. Here is the list:

  • Hectors, 409 N. Broadway, Santa Ana, Closed: June 26, Reason: Rodent infestation
  • Food Mart at Libra One Gasoline, 1131 S. Main St., Santa Ana, Closed: June 28, Reason: Cockroach infestation
  • Paqueteria Tzicatian, 1329 S. Main St., Suite B, Santa Ana, Closed: June 27, Reason: Rodent infestation
  • Happy’s Liquor, 2002 S. Flower St., Santa Ana, Closed: June 27, Reason: Rodent infestation

Advisory: Santa Ana Police Detectives Make Two Arrests in Investigation of 1999 Kidnap and Rape

Arrested: Ismael Salgado (36) Chicago Illinois and Jose Plascencia (36) Laveen Arizona 

Santa Ana Police Department Detectives made two arrests connected to the brazen 1999 kidnapping and rape investigation. On February 3, 1999, at 5:30 P.M., an 11-year-old girl was casually walking home with a friend, the second victim, near Jerome Center in Santa Ana. Two adult males pulled their car alongside the girls and tried to entice them inside. The first victim refused to enter and one of the males grabbed her, forcing her inside the car with the second victim. The suspects drove both victims out of the area. Continue reading→

Jerome Center’s Summer Adventure Program

Jerome Recreation Center encourages the community to visit the center this summer and experience the exciting recreational activities we offer! This summer, we will be featuring Jerome Center’s Summer Adventure Program, a fun and educational program offered to school age children in Santa Ana. The program is supervised and features a variety of indoor and outdoor Summer activities for children ages 5 to 12. Jerome Center’s Summer Adventure Program will run Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., beginning Monday June 27th to Friday August 19, 2011. Jerome Center’s Friday Zumba Club

Zumba is one of the most popular classes at Jerome Recreation Center and we are happy to announce Friday Zumba Club as our latest addition to our leisure class lineup. The Friday Zumba club Fridays is for teens ages 13 to 17 and will feature a Live DJ. The class will be offered from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $20 per month. Newly renovated Jerome Center opening on Saturday, June 12

Celebrating its grand re-opening on June 12, 2010, Jerome Park and Recreation Center first opened to the public in 1968. The 14 acre park is named after Mr. William Jerome, a civic leader and former Councilmember and his father, Mr. W.C. Jerome, a former County Supervisor. Since it first opened, the 15,760 square foot recreation center has been the hub for sports and other leisure activities for the residents of Santa Ana. Continue reading→
