Community: Santa Ana Council Calls for Legal Action on Homelessness. City to Sue County of Orange, Irvine, Laguna Niguel and Huntington Beach

SANTA ANA, CA – On Tuesday night, Santa Ana City Council directed the City’s legal counsel to move forward with a lawsuit against the County of Orange and the cities of Irvine, Laguna Niguel and Huntington Beach for their opposition to sheltering the homeless on available County land. A County plan to locate three temporary homeless shelters in each homeless services region of the County had been adopted earlier in March but was subsequently rescinded by the County Board of Supervisors following opposition from those cities. The City’s legal action seeks to compel the parties to take action rather than merely say “no” to being part of the solution. Continue reading→

Murder Suspect Arrested

WESTMINSTER, Calif. (September 11, 2015) – On Friday, September 11, 2015, Orange County Sheriff’s Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) deputies arrested Craig Tanber, 37, Dana Point, wanted in connection with the stabbing homicide that occurred last Monday, September 7, 2015 in front of the Patsy’s Irish Pub in the City of Laguna Niguel. Tanber was taken into custody without incident or injuries.

Tanber was arrested at approximately 6:15 a.m. this morning after investigators obtained information he was staying at the Motel 6 at 13100 Goldenwest Street., Westminster. SWAT operators made entry into the motel room and safely took Tanber into custody. Continue reading→

SANTA ANA – A girlfriend is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow for stabbing and murdering her boyfriend in their home. Michele Lynn Green, 50, Laguna Niguel, was charged today with one felony count of murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a knife. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in state prison. Suspect Arrested for Assault on Real Estate Agent

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. – (October 12, 2014) – On Sunday, October 12, 2014, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies arrested John Thomas Glenn, 23, Laguna Niguel (transient), in connection with a physical assault of a real estate agent yesterday. Glenn was arrested by deputies in the area of Crown Valley Parkway and Niguel Road as he walked out of a nearby park.

On Saturday, October 11, 2014 at approximately 1:00 p.m., Glenn is accused of physically assaulting a 55 year old, female real estate agent as she accessed a lock box on the front door of a Laguna Niguel home. Glenn approached the female victim, placed her in a chokehold and punched her several times causing her to begin losing consciousness. He fled the immediate area and subsequently became engaged in a physical altercation with a neighbor who heard the commotion, before fleeing the area on foot. An intense search ensued utilizing patrol deputies, air support and bloodhounds; however, Glenn could not be located. Continue reading→

Suspect Arrested for Possession of Substances Identified as Precursors to Homemade Explosives

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. – (September 2, 2014) – On Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at approximately 12:45 a.m., Orange County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic violence incident at a residence in the 100 block of Fairlane Drive, Laguna Niguel. During the course of the domestic violence investigation, deputies observed numerous weapons, military ordinances and potentially explosive substances. Soccer Coach Arrested for Lewd Acts with a Minor

LAGUNA NIGUEL, California – (Thursday, March 27, 2014) – On Wednesday, March 26, investigators from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Detail arrested Ronnie Gamez, 27, Laguna Niguel, in the city of Laguna Niguel.  Gamez, a soccer coach associated with several south Orange County club organizations, was arrested for lewd acts on a minor stemming from an incident in early March 2014. Parents of the victim found inappropriate communications between their child and Gamez, and reported the incident to law enforcement. WOMAN SENTENCED TO 16 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TEEN RELATIVE’S 14 AND 16-YEAR-OLD HOCKEY FRIENDS

SANTA ANA – A woman was sentenced today to 16 months in state prison for sexually assaulting two boys, ages 14 and 16 years old, who played on the hockey team of her teenage relative. Kathia Maria Davis, 46, Laguna Niguel, pleaded guilty June 27, 2013, to four felony counts of lewd acts on a child for John Doe #1. The defendant was previously found guilty by a jury Aug. 9, 2012, of four felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse for John Doe #2, and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for John Doe #2 and Jane Doe #1. That jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict regarding the sex crimes against John Doe #1. In addition to her prison sentence, the defendant is subject to lifetime sex offender registration.
