CommunityAlert: VETERANS RESOURCE CENTER GRAND OPENING AT THE SANTA ANA PUBLIC LIBRARY
SANTA ANA, CA – Recognizing the need to reach and serve the needs of our veterans and their families, the Santa Ana Public Library, with the support of the State Library and in coordination with CalVet, will be opening a Veterans Resource Center on June 20th. The Center’s mission is to respond to our veteran community’s informational, educational, and personal needs by connecting them with the services and resources available for their use.
The Center provides veterans an area to engage in researching benefits, completing applications, and, on occasion, meeting with veteran service organization representatives. The Santa Ana Public Library celebrates Children’s Day/Book Day
SANTA ANA, CA – An estimated 1,500 children from across Orange County will descend upon Santa Ana, as the Santa Ana Public Library will join hundreds of libraries across the country in celebration of Día de los niños/Día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day). The celebration will take place at the Main Library on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event will include a variety of fun-filled activities and services for children and their families. Community Alert: Santa Ana Hosts Bicycle Safety Forum
SANTA ANA, CA (February 4, 2014) – The public is invited to a Bicycle Safety Forum at the City of Santa Ana’s Main Library on Saturday, February 22nd, 2014 from 3 to 5 p.m. The purpose of this forum is to provide the community with the opportunity to focus on the safety challenges that exist when you bike in Santa Ana. Participants of all ages are welcome, and are not limited to only bicyclists.
The community will have the opportunity to participate in a survey, and join different feedback focus stations to provide ideas and suggestions that will be used to help in the development of a bicycle safety program for the community. Continue reading→

Almost every country in the world is affected by trafficking, whether as a country of origin, transit or destination for victims. Every year, thousands of men, women and children go missing, or are subject to domestic abuse. SANTA ANA, CA (November 6, 2013) – The Santa Ana Public Library is pleased to present the Mexican film, Macario, starring Ignacio López Tarso and Pina Pellicer. A black and white classic, Macario was directed by Roberto Gavaldón and will be shown in Spanish with English subtitles.

SANTA ANA, CA (October 21, 2013) – The Santa Ana Public Library invites the community to the annual TeenSpace Haunted House at the Jerome Recreation Center and Santa Ana Central Library. These events are free and open to the public.
The Jerome haunted house will be open to the public on October 24th & 25th from 6-8pm. TeenSpace staff will be giving out free candy while supplies last. Community members are asked to line up along the south side of the Recreation Center facing the soccer field. The Jerome Recreation Center is located on 726 S. Center Street Santa Ana, CA 92704. Santa Ana Community Alert: Santa Ana Public Library Welcomes Author Ruben Acosta Vallejo
SANTA ANA, CA (September 11, 2013) – The Santa Ana Public Library is pleased to present local author Ruben Acosta Vallejo for a discussion of his book Dying Freedom: Insurrection 1810. Through this wonderful work of historical fiction, Acosta helps a new generation understand the personal cost of their ancestors’ struggles and triumphs.
Ruben Acosta is a teacher who grew up in Santa Ana, California. He learned English as a teenager while practicing his grandfather’s mariachi songs. He is a former amateur boxer and enjoys playing baseball. Ruben received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Fullerton, as well as a Master’s Degree in Cross-Cultural Teaching. He currently teaches second grade at Heroes Elementary in the City of Santa Ana and lives in Old Town Orange with his wife and their daughter and son. Continue reading→

The Santa Ana Public Library TeenSpace Program will be bringing together Santa Ana youth to discuss bike issues in Santa Ana. At the event, guests will have the opportunity to learn about Santa Ana bike issues, such as bike lanes, bike trails, bike facilities, bike lockers/racks, and shared bike exchanges. All event participants will also have an opportunity to voice their ideas, opinions, and concerns about bike issues in Santa Ana. Giant Teddy, an Orange County company, has generously donated a giant 72” teddy bear to the Santa Ana Public Library. The Youth Services Department is excited to receive the new addition into the library and welcomes the public to greet our cuddly companion during one of the “Beary Extra Ordinary” storytimes.
