High-Speed Rail Authority to Host Small Business Certification Workshop In Orange County
SACRAMENTO, CA – In his continued outreach and assistance to small businesses, Senator Lou Correa (D-Santa Ana) announced that the California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) will host a series of statewide workshops to help certify small businesses that want to participate in the statewide high-speed rail project. The Authority will provide small businesses with hands-on technical assistance which includes on-the-spot certification that can be completed online. “I am proud that my colleagues in the Senate joined me in support of bringing greater awareness to Autism. As we have learned, Autism Spectrum Disorders are on the rise and new data suggests that Autism now affects 1 in 50 children. Families, especially in underserved communities, feel helpless and distressed by the lack of resources,” said Correa. “We must enact policies that expand needed supports and services and help families understand what programs are available to them,” he added. Sacramento—Senator Lou Correa (D-Santa Ana) joined NFL legend and national chairman of 9-1-1 for Kids, Tim Brown, to honor youth heroes and dispatchers heroes at the State Capitol in recognition of those who gallantly and intrepidly called 9-1-1 to help save a life or report a crime.

SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, State Senator Lou Correa (D-Santa Ana) introduced Senate Concurrent Resolution (SCR) 34 which designates April 23 through April 30, 2013 as “Black April Memorial Week,” in commemoration of the countless American and Vietnamese lives lost during the Vietnam War era.

FORUM FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES AND THEIR RIGHTS IN SCHOOL
(SANTA ANA, CA) – Various community leaders and non-profit organizations are working together to hold a forum for parents of children with disabilities to talk about the rights from birth through the education process. For parents who have children with disabilities, the moment they realize that their child has a disability; parents face a new adversity in learning about all the possible resources to help their son or daughter. Sometimes state program or the education system does not provide thorough information concerning the rights of a child with disabilities and parents have many questions their rights as a parent.
